Buyers, would you like us to sale by phone?
Post 1 of 30

Hello,everyone here.

I am a foreign trader in China,in fact,i usually contact buyers trough E-mail.So when i search something relevent to the buyer,i care more about the E-mail address. When i got it,i mailed them as more as possible, but who knows,so a few reply me,or i even got no reply most of the time.

So someone told me,i should take some  phone sale,my question is,as a buyer, when you received a call from me that is not very good at speaking, and a little shy, what do you think about,do you think it is trouble some?

Your comments will be appreciate.Thanks.

This depends alot on what position within the company you hold.

  1. Owner
  2. Sales Representative

Owner:  If you are the owner of the business and you wanted to market internationally it would be best based, on your own self assesment.  Understanding your assesment I would only market products via phone to others that actually spoke the same language.  For markets where I wanted to market I would hire someone that was fluent in understanding and relating to the language of the potential buyer.

Sales Representative:  Until such time that you can overcome your shyness and have a better working, comprehension and diction of the dialect of the buyers you want to contact I would remain doing business as you are.

Its great that you can face your own self analysis, as it breaks down all your barrier's to succeed.  If you want to better communicate say in English, I would suggest you taking two cl .

  1. English language - diction and comprehension
  2. English writting - written communication and report writting

That example can be used in regards to any language, #1 being the toughest for anyone in any language they want to learn.

Best regards,

Ranger

In addition to the above make sure that you know your customer and target your promotion.

Far too many sellers send out correspondence to any and all contacts they can find with little regard for whether the person receiving the contact is in any need of that product. This is called spam.

So spend time to target your customers and then understand each of them a little bit BEFORE you even try to contact them.

You need to show them that you want to do business with them not just get orders from them.

I will remember this sentence "

You need to show them that you want to do business with them not just get orders from them.'

So useful.

From your words, I think it is your problem but not the buyers. Call or not is only the way different . Practise yourself more. Start out the first step, you will go further! [em1]

I 'd rather agree with Egernia's opinion. Communication is very important for business, and to learn if the customer has a buying willing or not is much more important. A good skilled call or E-mail or what ever, may be well respond from a potential customer who already has a buying willing, while it may also be a big trouble for someone who don't have need to buy something.

Also the same comment: pay more attention to the customer. Show your respect before calling him/her directly-------an E-mail in advance and ask if he/she would like to receive a call from you may be much better than a sudden call.

Goodluck!

Thank you very much,it is a good idea to write a mail in advance to see if the customer want me to make the call.

It wouldn't be troublesome to anyone who is experienced in dealing with Chinese Manufacturing, but there are now many people with little experience trying to work as import agents. I imagine that those people would be concerned about dealing with you.
