How can I tap into the refurbished cell phone marketplace?

Im new to alibaba and have quickly learned that the import market has to be pretty shady with the pricing I've been receiving. To good to be true for new oem product.

I have had success selling refurbished phones on ebay. The supplier is USA based but will only sell me a limited stock because they themselves are selling through online auctions as well.

My question is 3 part for anyone who might have the time to answer.

Question #1: are there any USA companies who sell refurbished product at wholesale whereas a retailer can actually make a profit? I have researched new cell phone distributors until my eyes have crossed and there is no room for profit.

Question #2: I have spoken to 3 companies who deal in used and defective phones and sell them to refurbishers. All 3 have told me that most of the refurbished product comes out of China.

Question#3: If this is true, how come I don't see any China distributors offering refurbished product on here.

Thanks for your time in reading this.

Refurbished phone are control by the big player who does volumes as soon as a btach comes in they snap it all up. On top of this, some dodgy supplier would actually tries to pass them off as new. To put it simply demands are greater than supplies.

Thanks for the reply, but I have to disagree. Ive come across a few USA based companies who are selling quality refurbished product and not doing any false advertising. I've purchased the product. Phones are in "A" condition, accessories included, warranty offered. Of course they will not sell to me in any large quantity or at any real competitive price because I'd just be more competition. I also know that these companies are not doing the remanufacturing themselves, which tells me somewhere out there are companies who are. The question is Who & Where?

Maryann, thanks for the reply but I must be honest. Companies who use gmail, yahoo & hotmail as their addresses just leave me very skeptical. Really one of the biggest eyebrow raisers for me. I'll email you though and see what happens.

    Hi,

It is possible to get refurbished GSM phones in China ( especially Shen Zhen) but without someone that you can trust there, you will not know what you get till you received it.

There are lots of listings for refurbish GSM phones on the internet but dealing with them as your supplier is another story. Good Luck!

Hugo that seems to be the problem. Seems like most are just resellers and of course they wont sell to someone like me.. I'll need to keep pressing on.. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it.

Yes, good idea...that, or start looking for something other than cell-phones[em3]? There are just so many wonderful things one can do out there, why did you insist on choosing this shady field? Just a thought, you know...[em34]
