many people may know me, i am one of the moderators on Alibaba and we have agent office for sourcing and checking in China.
Because i am in China many months i communicate with other countries and my websites are in US and UK, this means my email server is there too. I came back to China on the 13th of this month and since i have had so many problems and it's now become a nightmare for me each day.
Pay pal uk, US servers, outlook express will not download all mails so each day the mails get more and more.
tnt tracking, msn is now very slow, cannot use web cam too well, today i tried to post this question on Alibaba and had to refresh it?
In UK 10 days ago i had no problems, i have use the factories server had was about the same and ther use another service provider, also used my wifes laptop which is in chinese but again similar problems.
I know mant websites out of China are blocked, and yes before sometime i could not log on my web sites for days, but this is more, the speed is fine in China as we can watch films on the internet no problem, the upload and download speeds are fine, its strange as hotmail is always ok, but today again seems slow?

Please let me see what you feel, remember my problem is my servers, i dont have chinese email address or chinese website, but lets hear your thoughts, cheers

Replying to [motoucom]: From what I understand, the earthquake off the coast of Taiwan, just before the new year, ruptured china's main internet connection [on the ocean bed] to the outside world... It was supposed to have been repaired by the 17th of this month but obviously no luck yet as still very slow, unstable and almost useless [em8] hope you are back up and running before the chinese new year. Best regards

The trans-Pacific cable line goes to Taiwan?

Anyway, I visit factories in China, and yes their connection is, how can I put this nicer, slow as a turtle, and sometimes they are very inconsistent. Further more, sending hi-resolution img via email crashes you laptop. After getting use to all those fast connection in Japan, I cant help but feel a sudden rush of irritation up to my head.

The power shortage is another problem too. [em6] And that is another story.

i'm feeling the same pain ! as a freelance designer i'm needing the internet and good connections. i'm based in china 90% of the time working with suppliers and factories etc. i've been here for almost 2 years -- i can't remember having sooo many problems !! --
china domestic sites are really fast and the UK - OTHER sites that i try to access / my server are slow and often just NOT happening !!! another frustration to add to the list -- [em5]
