Tobacco has first been found in the Continent America as smoked by the Indians, and now invaded all over the world. Despite many campaigns against, it still goes on spreading.

Why do you think people smoke ?
How should it be treated to prevent its expansion ?

Replying to [yarenimex]: Tobacco is a legal addictive drug and hundreds of millions of smokers are addicted world wide. We need to convince people that not only is smoking unhealthy but it is uncool.

Dear Kivi,

As you also know very well,no doubt all smokers do know the health problems which cigarette or other tobaco products cause in the short or long run depending on the age,sex and body conditions with its almost 5000 poisining and hazardous elements in tobaco smoke.

Although they know its bad effects and results all, people still smoke and smoking keeps its expansion in the world specially in the underdeveloped and developing countries.

So why do you think people still smoke ? and how can we convince the people not to smoke and/or give it up ?

Replying to [yarenimex]:I think it give some relax to mind, whenever any one in tension.I find some man are chain smoker and the continue smoke and smoke...

In India and China..many people smokes. It is not so good. It make effect on the lungs and slowly slowly lungs get spoiled.

Mainly it effect both..smoker as well as the person who is with him.So it is very bad in all the way.

Replying to [yarenimex]: There needs to be a media campaign aimed at making it appear stupid, foolish, selfish but mostly un-cool to smoke. If people get embarrassed every time the smoke they might just stop and others might not start. I remember a quote from a number of years ago,"Kissing a smoker is like licking an ashtray."

That is the most unwise invention by human. It just kills people and does no good. The only way to keep people away from it is, I think, to find a replacement that does no harm to people's health.

It ain't easy to stop smoking, as this is an addiction to a drug named nicotine.

Here in Singapore, cigarettes are taxed many times their original price. A pack of 20 Marlboro costs USD7.50.

It is not only health hazardous, it also impoverishes and is the cause of 80% of fires in the house.

A smoking mother has higher chance of getting a underweight baby, and it is more likely to be prematured.

Well no doubt this issue is very serious but you can not ask the eddicted person to leave as it is very difficult. When someone is used to it he may give you 100 reasons for favouring his point. As I rememeber One person has asked a Man why do you smokes so much how much ciggarate / cigar you smoke in a day. he replied 6-8, Oh my god that means in one year you can own a car, he replied it is not that case I can show you examples about the people who are not smoking has still not been able to buy a bicycle.

Tobacco has been used in India for ages, long before modern world discovered America.
Sikh religion, founded more than 300 years ago, forbid its followers against use of tobacco.
Lord Shiva is fond of Cannabis smoke, it says in our religious text.
Its use is bad, though I can not kick this habbit.
