Bitumen import
Post 1 of 2
Besides the cost of the raw material, ie. bitumen substance which needs to be blended to get the desired grade like 40/50, 60/70, 80/100 etc, which is carried out by the refiners and third party contractors who get the substance from the refiners, the major cost for getting the bitumen are..

Packing

Steel Drums- the most reliable packing method for bitumen , although flexitanks, in bales and collapsible 20kg bags etc, which under hot climate and temperature could not withstand, steel prices are a major factor in the cost of bitumen

The scrap steel price is climbing to USD 800 per ton and hence the cost per kg is usd 80 censt. A 20 kd drum then shall easily cost more than USD 20.

Then the cost of transportation and shipping.

The major factors are
From Plant to Port Terminal ( Trucking)
Stuffing
Forklift ( 20 pallets of 4x200kg drum)
Terminal Handling Charges
Depot Handling
Equipment transfer charge
Port Wharfage ( 55 per Container)
Fumigation Charge ( per container)
Documentation
Export permit Documentation
B/L Fee
B/L Switching fee
ISPM Stamping fee ( S$ for 20 pallets/ more 1.5 per pallet)
3rd Party Billing Fee
ACI Fee
CO Application
CO Endorsement fee
Courier fee
Inspection Charges
Freight  ( Variable)
Insurance ( 0.5% invoice value)

The abovementioned costs sometime are equal or more than the cost of the bitumen itself.
