Thank all my friends for your attention to my problem.

In the past 6-7months,I have been encouraged by your helpful words and supports. I really appreciate all your response and discussion.

Some people believe if you can not stand the heat ,please get out of the kitchen.I cann't agree more. Since we have chosen this line, we have to hold on and go furhter ,no hesitation ,no fear.If you find you are not fit for this postion, you'd better quit as soon as possible.Sometimes, we need to learn how to survive and how to void eliminating through selection or contest ,that's important for fresh men.

Let's go together ,hands by hands ,shoulders by shoulders. One day we may meet in the summit of this line,I am pretty sure of it.Come on!

Good Luck!

Alibaba has done some great work in this area. Simply go to
http://resources.alibaba.com/article/47/The_language_of_trade_deals_understanding_Incoterms.htm

There you will find all the terms.

I would like to establish home based business, selling mobile phones and gadgets.
Does anybody know how to start properly such business?

I found here (in Alibaba.com) a lot of brand new (Nokia, Qtek etc) telephones and gadgets at very low prices (sometimes 30-40% of the original price)
Does anybody why this equipment is so low priced?

BigN,

Hmmm.  I would say they are low priced because they are scams.  These are scams designed to take money from honest folks like yourself who are trying to start a business for themselves.  Electronics are popular with cunsumers, so they are popular with the scammers.  Be very wary of dealing with companies whose pricing seems out of this world.  Do your due diligence on your suppliers and you will likely not get scammed...or scammed as easily.

Good luck!

Replying to [Lawrence]: Hi Laurence. I just placed my first order from China and I have the most perplexing problem. I initiated an L/C through my bank, (Westpac) in Australia, but the L/C has not arrived to the Chinese bank for about three weeks.
I can't get any answers and both banks Wetpac and CITIC in China keeps saying to just wait. My supplier asked CITIC, as I can't find any way to contact them.
I am sure this is not a usual situation and would love some help in finding out what I can do.
Could an L/C just get lost? In that case do I lose my money, or is my bank responsible for it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What if the way ahead shows no promise, should you continue on the same course or find another path as quickly as possible?

Stay away from the crowd and compete where the environment(market) is empty.

Mondmar,

One option is a fax letter (a) requesting Westpac to advise whereabouts of the L/C today and (b) advising that you are suffering substantial loss and damage as a result of the delay for which you hold Westpac liable.

Often a "piece of actual paper" such as a fax gets more attention than phone calls / emails when dealing with a large institution such as Westpac.

And / or drop the original into your local Westpac branch.

Hi Mondmar.

Further to Aussies suggestion above, I also suggest you fax a copy (if you haven't already done so) to the Supplier in China and get him/her to take the copy in to CITIC in China, and get them to chase it up from their end.

It is alwaysa good idea for Buyers to request a copy of an opened LC from their bank and then fax it to the Supplier, so all parties have a copy.
