We should not be only concentrating on the issues of food shortages in our countries. Of course is is a important and need to be address as soon as possible, but the actual issue we should be concern about is the cause of this shortages.
The root or roots of all this problem will have to be tackled or else food shortages will be a perennial problem.
Beside the problem cause by the price increment of oil, one of the main for this food shortages is the misconception or rather the intentional and unintentional withholding of information.
Many are planting crops that was use as staple food source for human in the past. Now this crops, including, corns, wheat, tapioca (cassava), sugar cane and soya beans are been use as bio fuel because of the better price fetch.
Well, I don't think it is right, but these farmer have their right to what they want to do with ntheir crops. What I think should be done is for the authority (local or global) to educate the people to make use of land that was once consider unproductive for crops and utilised it to the fullest.
I have brought up the subject of Jatropha plant in another forum. I will think that much more consideration be given to the planting of this crops.
Why sacrifice the crops mean for human if we can have alternative source of bio fuel that can be obtain at a fraction of the actual cost now and at the same time creating jobs and utilising lands that was not use before.
Jatropha, is a hardy plant that will grow in most environment and as i have say before actually thrive in soil condition that other crops find hard to survive. Sandy soil, limited rainfall, bad irrigation, all these are not a problem for the Jatropha.
So the next time you are worrying about the shortages of food or the rising food prices, spare a thought for Jatropha and join in the canvassing for the Jatropha program

Korea is not a food crisis status. but we should pay more for domestically grown grain
and meat etc. Korea mainly depend on supply from USA and China.
so when Chinese domestic need increase, then we can suffer shortage.
Above all I am feel sorry is that North Korean's Nutrition status.
Most koreans need more support for North Koea, but with some politiacal reason
North Korean Govenment prevent southkoreans from Food suppy.
I feel so sorry for it, my heart is broken when I think of starving NorthKoreans.
