Hi Mark,

I would certainly ask for credentials. How long is the company in business? Is the company incorporated? If you are really careful ask for the name of the bank manager and talk to him. Also: Ask for one of his biggest customers and vendor. (Name and Tel. number.)

Plus: Pay with Credit card or if it is really big: LC.

That's all I can think of - it should work. Good luck.

Hi,

Start of with a small sample order.

Visit your supplier.

Visit their factory or office. Everyone claims they have a factory, in most cases they don't. This make it hard for them to control the delivery date and time schedules since they need to lias with the manufacturer for dates.

If you have volume then you are better to deal direct with the factories. When at the factory assess if they are really the factory by monitoring their activities...for example can they move freely and go to restricted area. Really owners can do this while imposest have restricted movements.

In any cases, start with one or at most 2 of your best selling items. Don't try to do too many things to limit your potential for being scammed. Then when you have more experience expand your product lines.

There no bulletproof plans unless you have a trusted person on site because factories can also fraud you by providing inferior quality. That is the product you get is not the same as the sample. In the past we have sent our own people to sleep and monitor the factory every activities from start of production till the goods are shipped. The natural of the product was electronics and there are many ways to cut corners.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Remus

Dear Mark,

Being a potential buyer you must get the goods yourself onsite inspection with 100% confidence then make a deal on Cost Insurance and Freight basis that covers all of defrauded policies.

Mark,

You have to be very carefull with sourcing the factories.  You also have to visit the factories often and even have your own person over there to watch the production.  Because you are from UK it's better find the sourcing agent from your country at the beginning because they know the regulations in your country  so it would be safer you find somebody that has much experiences exporting to your country.  Anyway, for any big orders you have to be on the field more as the risk is higher, however you will earn money by doing this in the long run.  Usually you have to do this for every factories as it is very hard to trust them even you already doing business with them for one year or more.
