We are new to Alibaba, a loss like that would hurt our small company very badly. We have always purchased from companies in our own country (United States). We are interested in buying from Chinese company but we have fear of buying from China now because we can not afford to lose our money to scam, it could cause us to go out of business. Is there any way to make a "safe" purchase where we can be guaranteed to not be cheated?
Chap - I've just joined this Alibaba thing and got blatantly cheated out of US$1300 straight away. Looking at all the feedback on this site I think the whole Alibaba approach is a lottery.
Alibaba - abracadabra - and you're money's gone........

Andy yes it is truley a lottery if you send money to a seller half way around the world without first taking the time to check whether the company is legitimate and whether or not the products they are offering for sale are really available from them.
This is exactly the same lottery as buying goods off the back of a truck back home which would be a fair comparison to buyers who send cash payments via WU and to personal bank accounts in foreign countries for brand name products that cannot possibly even exist at the prices they are offered for.
So this is not about China or alibaba but about being careful before you send your money to unverified suppliers. It is your money and it is your responsibility to ensure that the seller is legit before you send your hard earned cash to them.

wow, usd 22,000 advance money, man oh man, why didnt you fly to china and verify and make shipment yourself ? it is better to go and meet and find out real suppliers before sending money to anyone... such naive people are there and scammers are more than happy to feed on them as vultures. BEWARE ALSO MEANS BE AWARE.. Good luck people..
I agree with agricom, since I started with alibaba, I have travelled to china to personally handle my transactions. BPS (buy, pack & ship) I dont trust n e of those companies over there. I'm thinking of staying in china to screen companies and purchases for guys like G-FORCE.
