Hey, I don’t agree with that. One has to be wise and disciplined, of course when you use the card to spend without thinking it is kind of a suicidal. But if you can control yourself credit card has much more benefits then cash. In our country where snatch thief is so rampage it is not wise to carry much cash in your wallet or hand bag, credit card is much safer.

10 reasons why I said credit card in beneficial if u use it wisely

safer, pay 30 days after you spend, they keep a record for your every transaction for free, it is easier to track your spending, example how much for petrol, shopping, dining etc, payment can be done online, get points for gift redemption, get free insurance, if you buy an air ticket with it there are much more benefits, no need to bother to count the change, no need to think about foreign ex-change rate, no need to go through the awfulness when need to borrow some money

Of course successful people don't need credit card. Their name are already worth money or they would usually have some carry cash for them ready to pay on their behalf [em10]

If we put the posts from snsint and Keat Ta Kia togther, we can see the whole situation. For people who are very reasonable and controlled, they are a great "tool", especially if they are on a trip. But for the average "John Doe" (the majority of people) who doesn't have that control, they are indeed an instrument for suicide.

Dear Grandpa:

YES, but if we are all reasonable and controlled, there will be no Iraq war, there will be no bubble for the subprime mortgage, people won't  store commodities when learned there is going be a shortage or price up...[em34]

This is a crazy world because we are all crazy men...HAHAHA[em30][em2]

Here we go again, diverting from the subject and going into political discussion. Since you brought up the subject of the Iraq war, I spoke to the man-on-the-streets in the middle east, right after the invasion of Iraq, and this is their general opinion:

The cause for the invasion is based on a family vendetta to get the job done, which was left unfinished during the Desert Storm by the former Bush administration.

But in this thread, I am shocked to read the statement supported by moderator that "credit cards are nothing but just suicide cards." Even more surprised the moderator is a Trust Pass member running his own business and brushing aside the benefits Credit Cards bring to society. It is true that the credit card business is lucrative, with a 24% interest plus Service charges slapped on errant late payments. However it is a very useful and to some extent, an essential part of business.

Case study: Travelling abroad, a businessman does not carry much cash money along with him. If he does, must declare in the Embarkation form for over $10,000 cash carried into the country. He books the hotel and air ticket through the Internet, pays by the Credit Card. The cash he carries will be for the taxi fares, the meals in the local restaurants and other miscellaneous spendings. It is another matter to bring Traveller's cheques along, but he has to cash them at the bank counter, which will take time and travelling to the place and facing much hustles by money changers.

Like what Spiderman says: "Great Power brings Greater Responsibility". Credit Card gives us great power of spending, but it must come along with the responsibility to spend what we can afford, and not beyond our mean.

Actually a credit card has its plus and minus points, thats what i can say... It depends on how an individual uses it, either moderately or very excessive spending...

For me, i prefer to use this other alternative that was recently introduced here in Malaysia, which is the debit card... Despite being quite similar to the CC, the main difference is that the card is swiped using CURRENT funds in ur bank a/c, rather than future $$$ that may or may not be paid off successfully...

Which is why the number of young Malaysians below age of 30 yrs going bankrupt is increasing... Mainly due to being unable to control their credit card spending!

dear my friend:

everythings can be distinguished in two sides.

we can not deny the merit about the credit card ,of course we can adimit the demerit about it as well.diffirent people have diffirent view about them.

what we can do is to try our best to make it inprovement.[em1]
