yes , you are right . there are so many  on the net who deal in steel scarp .. mostly it is the same big deal being offerd by all . and mostly all big deals are not at all on teh net . thay have direct contacts and can not be dependent on net . thus we have frauds .

there is no organised free site for such sellers . you can try orkut community = steel scrap. it is moderated hence can be truste

Dear Ali,


To be honest with you alot of people just try to post stupid unrealistic offers. Imagine getting 150,000 X 12 MT in an year !! You can not get it from a single supplier.


Look you just have to use SGS or some local means the best thing that I have come across is getting verification by reviewing previous shipping documents and verifying them from the port. Now that most shipping companies have a presence online tracking of such shipments is easy.


Also, try to get the company verified by D&B (which apparently Alibaba also uses to verify their trustpass members) The D&B account can be purchased very easily it costs under $ 100 and gives you access to alot of countries in which any registered company which is paying tax can be verified. But the fact is that I have seen Alibaba's verification process and its really tight. so the best thing would be to either get SGS or D&B gather information for you and let them visit the yard of the supplier as well.


My personal opinion is that agents are the best in this regard if you get an agent for a certain amount of commission, your work and threat will be reduced as agents have alot of links which they utilize to extract information of a proper and genuine seller. Some agents even take the responsibility of covering up for losses that you might face if their supplier does any hanky panky.

hi-we are a trading company based in ireland-

re your question about scammers,i would suggets that

-you never send money upfront

-you meet with your suppliers in person

-you only trade using lc which can be verified by a reputable bank

-you engage if nesessary a reputable 3rd party inspection expert who are experts in the field or product in which you are trading,

i appreciate that there are many scams out there and i have come across quite a few myself,but it is possible to avoid if you have the correct systems in place.
