Re: My First Order Meet Problem
Quoting from [wised]:

I've decided to make my first order of some photographic studio lighting equipment from a seller 'Changzhou Simock Electronic, Co, Ltd.' From past threads I've tried to research the company a little on google which has brought up their home page and also a list of other sites which they also sell on. I'm having trouble finding any positive review/feedback from others who have purchased off them which has made me somewhat hesitant.

At this point in time we have agreed on a MOQ but I've also requested a sample item before I order the MOQ just to ensure the quality of the item but also that they are legit. They agreed to send a sample item at my expense which was reassuring. Should I be less concerned that they are offering a sample item? They request T/T as a payment means which is reassuring as I notice scammers rely on western union.

I realise it must be frustrating to see a constant flow of newbie threads popping up however this being my first purchase I'm very keen to make sure it goes right as I'd prefer not to lose a few hundred dollars buying a sample item which might not exist.

I greatly appreciate any assistance or tips and thank you for your time.

Alex

Hello Alex,

If you are going to establish a business relation with Chinese companies, please have some references from the company is advisable. This will make you and the referenced company to understand better the supplier.

Its a win win for both the supplier as well as new customer.

Due to internet fraud, its very difficult to judge a new company based on the website.

Thats why most of the US companies have local offices in China whos function is to verify the supplier capability.

If you need further info, please do not hesitate to contact us,

Regards,

Akm Chowdhury

It is common to find that suppliers in the Asia region generally only accept payment via payment options such as T/T or WU. The whole reason is that they aren't informed of other payment options. You would barely find any suppliers in China know what escrow etc.

Hi, this is ahmad from Jamil Star-Industries-Paksitan, manufacturers of quality motorbike clothing.

It does happen when you place an enquiry at any search engine for certain item. I would suggest you to check,

Do they have any website? How they accept payment for the samples? If through their company`s bank account, it`s O-K otherwise might be suspecious. Do some direct interaction in order to know if they really understand what you are looking for. Some technical question can be raised etc etc. These rae basis which definitely let you know how to proceed.

regards,

Ahmad.

Quoting from [Egernia]:

You are importing into Australia right? Be very careful with the certification issue.

Generally speaking most suppliers do not get their own products certified but instead let customers do that for their own markets and at their own cost. Some supplier that regularly ship to certain markets may take the step to get the product certified but many don't.

So although the supplier may say that the product is CE certified or whatever you need to check whether the factory holds that certification on their product or whether one of their customers does. If the customer paid for the certification then the supplier cannot offer you the documentation that you need to prove that it is certified as the buyer will have that documentation not the seller.

CE certification is not what you need for the Australian market. You need to ensure that your product meets electrical standards. Testing to ensure that it conforms is expensive and time consuming.

If you are buying one or two items for personal use then perhaps you are better off to just buy back home.

If you are starting a business importing this sort of product then learn about the standards and testing first before you start to spend money on the product.

Thanks for your advice. I have been trying to get someone to help me out with the product that I wanted from china , but I'm not getting any trusty reply from anyone despite sending out Emails. I live in Australia and I wanted to get some sample products for business purposes.

Maria,

Don't expect any help from  with your problem with being scammed. I was also scammed by a Gold Supplier from Alibaba. Even though the Alibaba website recommends the company because it is a Gold Supplier doesn't mean anything. They have not helped me get my product that I paid over usd$1,600 for either.

I discovered from another Gold Supplier that the companies get the Gold Supplier rating by paying a very high price. Not because they gave great customer service. I don't know if this is correct or not but if they were picked by their customer satisfaction the company that cheated me & your company would not have a Gold rating. The bad thing is that Alibaba does not have a place for us buyers to rate the suppliers. If they did then the companies would be more likely to not cheat the buyers. I have tried to get help also and cannot. The people will not talk  to me either. Like you I have proof about all of this. But it has done no good. I do hope that you get some help somewhere so you are not out all the money.
