What is the most popular local B2B platform in Japan?
Post 1 of 9

Hi there[em3]

Since I joined Alibaba , I've received many inquiries from different countries except Japan

My company will attend the EXHIB held in Tokyo in Nov.

But before that we would like to promote our products first and spread the news to draw more people come to our booth

For the best result I also start to learn Japanese when i know most people in Japan speak little English only

If there is anyone who knows which B2B platform would work better in Japan ?

Thank you for your reply[em2]

The many B2B platform in Japan is not very popular. I tried myself too.... it does not work very well.....

What you should do is contact with trading companies or local chamber of commerce that already deals with Japanese companies and spread your name by word of mouth. Jetro is a very good platform that you should take a look at.

For my case, we set up a company in Japan, joined the Chamber of Commerce Kobe, the America Chamber of Commerce Japan and the Infomart.co.jp (local B2B platform only) and connect local and overseas traders. So, if you really wanted to do trading with Japanese, you better come to Japan often, set up your booth in trade show, visit those companies whom you have met in Trade shows, and constantly show you care about their business... or else you will fail...

Making trade via overseas and expecting Japanese businessmen to trade w/o actually looking at the product will be close to impossible.  Moreover, Japanese businessmen is very very meticulous and very careful.

Patty,

Taiwanese should have less problem with Japanese language, as the Koreans. Both were former colonies of Japanese warlords during the Imperial expansion age.

However, you question if, not for some checking on your profile, will be vague and general, it is difficult to give you the right answer.

As general as your question, you can do your homework on two of the world's largest Search Engines, Googles and Yahoo.

Both of them has large data base. Websites are:

AsiaNet - http://www.asiannet.com/

Japan on-line Business Directory. http://www.japandirectoryonline.com/

Nihongo Yellow Pages Business Directory

Trade Directory Japan Ebisu (Japanese God of Commerce)
