I am about to make my first buy here on Ali Baba. And I have such a hard time in sending someone I don't know, a large amount of money. What can I do to protect from FRAUD? The Seller has Trust Pass... But to get this you only need to pay 500.00 USD to get. Can I check with Ali Baba to see if there have ever been any complaints on a company???

Hi there,
In this forum, you can find a list of scammers but it is not useful enough.
With Trust Pass im sure he is 99.9% genuine.
Normally Trust Pass members they have been checked by a third parties to verify his business.

Replying to [Artboxmy]: You know that was really a naive statement. "99.99% of trust members are real"
Actually Tom if you knew the amount that were not actual businesses and or businesses that claim they have been in business for more years than they actually have been.
I Checked 30 Trust Pass members at random accross several items from several countries including the U.S.
Results:
US
- 3 were Fake companies ( they were not DBA, Inc, LLC, LP or LLP)
- 2 were real (1 with correct information 1 with information establishing itself as a company 5 years before it was registered.)
UK
- 2 were Fake companies using the details of other real companies unrelated to the type of business done by the real companies
- 3 were real (2 companies with correct information including business address 1 claimed they were in buisness 10 years and only established this year with misleading business address)
India
- 2 were Fake companies
- 3 were real with fully disclosed and correct details
Australia
- 1 Fake company
- 4 real companies (2 companies with full disclosure 2 alibab sites appear however to have been hijacked as what is being sold is not the business that those companies are in or someone using the details of the real companies)
Indonesia
- 3 Fake companies (None of the companies could be verified by company registration phone numbers nor physical address)
- 2 real companies with full registration and with verified business locations and phone numbers.
Singapore
- 5 out of 5 real and verifiable via phone numbers and business addresses.
Conclusion:
36.7% of all Trust Pass were fake
7.5% of the real companies providing false or misleading information.
55.8% of all Trust Pass with full disclosure of facts
Now in the scope of things thats not a very good average for companies/businesses that are supposed to be verified by a 3rd party.
Then theres the fact that Western Trust Pass members are verified by Asia CIS yet Asia CIS has no database or profiles for companies they say they verified for any nation in the Americas - North, Central, South or European countries. Then they go on to say that they offer verifications on 58 countries in the Asian, Oceania region, but if you go to their website you can only actually purchase information on 23 of the 58.
Isn't it even more amazing that over 68% of the companies that have apparently been verified by Huaxia DNB can't be found in the DNB database.
Now tell me where's the trust? But more than that why is every country so far behind Singapore in their Trust Pass honesty?
Now then heres one other tidbit of information all the real companies were selling generic items, commodities, or refurbished goods. All the fakes were selling brand name items.
I did do some research on 2 Gold Suppliers with Trust Pass as well. Two of the most mentioned companies in this forum are not listed with DNB so how were thy verified by DNB?

Quoting from [First time buyer]:Maybe you can hire a local helper to do the in-depth investigation for you with low fees. The guy can check the supplier in the local commerce administration authority. So you need to let the supplier provide more info. For example, business ID, company bank account, legal representative etc. These info will be most helpful.I am about to make my first buy here on Ali Baba. Contact a company called Ohibomo.com. They safeguard your funds, notify your seller about it, and they only release your funds to the seller after you have inspected the merchandise. Their fees are about 10% for the first $1000 The higher the amount of money, the lower the % slides.
