your customer ask you to order an $900 burgundy??

If At a business dinner, your customer ask you to order an $900 burgundy. You will:

a.Order it - anything to make him happy

b.Tell him to order it himself

c. Explain to him that your budget doesnot allow it and suggest another wine. [em9]

That depend on how you feel the business is going to be. I have known some entertainment going 10 times the figure you mentioned. If you are talking about genuine business of millions what is a couple of hundreds. Sometime the genuine big time buyer is just testing the seller how far they can go and sometime the buyer just boast about the huge figure and try to gain some benefit

There are some limits to entertainments, and these are based on:

  1. Financial constraints. We do not have the budget to spend for your     entertainment
  2. Moral and religious constraints. My religion does not permit me to entertain our guests with alcoholic beverages
  3. Legal constraints. The law of the country prohibits entertainment which complies to the corruption practices act.

We have a real case story: A new customer who recently bought some few hundreds of dollars of goods from us, sent a letter of invitation to us. They will be holding their company's annual dinner and dance, and the organising committee is asking for donation of gifts for their lucky draw. Minimum value is $100.00. We wrote back to say: "sorry, there is no budget for this."

On the other hand, there is a customer who gave us hundreds of thousand dollars sales. We went to buy gifts for each member of the staff in the office, without their asking.

In my opinion,it depends on the business and the profite that you negotiate with him.

If  he can bring much more than  $900, i choose a.

If  the agreetment has not reached,or he is not interested in doing business with you. tell him to order it by himself. 900$ maybe is luxurious.

Usually,we should choose C,
