If At a business dinner, your customer ask you to order an $900 burgundy. You will:

a.Order it - anything to make him happy

b.Tell him to order it himself

c. Explain to him that your budget doesnot allow it and suggest another wine. [em9]

I guess the answer to this depand with the business situation and how do you value it. if it was in my situations, i would go with b. tell him to order it himself. the reason is because there is a fine line bethween business and taking advantage of people. if the customer is a bonafide customer, they should know their place and would behave.

Regards,

Ferdy

Well, it all depends on the relationship you share with your customer. Personally I have never faced this situation, but I would go for option (a) if I know that he is a very valuable customer and has given me business worth 100 times the burgundy !! I would never go for option (b). However if my customer really insists, then I would take a quick sixth sense decision, as too whether it is really worth spending 900$ on him/her !!.

I suggest d) claim that the this vintage was quite poor and proceed to order the $30 burgandy [without mention of price] stating you hear that one was fanstastic.[em3]

I will choose a and c this time .

It really depends on how much business we are doing with this client .If  the business is sizable  and we already had very good business relationship ,I will surely treat him or her very well and try to meet  their requirements .

If we donot have too much business with the client  or just meet for the first time ,I will choose c to show our sincerity to do business with the client .

In any case ,I will never choose B. If we look this in the chinese culture , it seems that it is very rude and not polite at all .

I donot know how western people will do under this situation but for china,I will choose a and c respectively .
