By this time, decomposition has probably already set in, and there is no way or process to get the toxins (that are created in the process) out of the fish. Freezing only PREVENTS spoilage, but doesn't reverse it. So the most sensible thing to do would be "donating" the fish to the garbage bin. [em4]

Hi germex, nice to know you [em17] thanks for your time to answer

I ever read that the Food Standards Agency (FSA) in UK says that : as soon as fresh fish starts to deteriorate, it's not suitable to freeze. but in indonesia we usually freeze until 2 weeks?????[em9][em9]

You mean two weeks after buying it? [em12] No wonder there aren't more people in Indonesia...

The only way I could imagine fish to last that long outside the freezer is thoroughly drying (dehumidifying) it. The bacterias also need water to survive, and very dry food, typically below 8% humidity, therefore lasts very long.

Maybe I misunderstood you, so let me distinguish between two different situations.

One is that you buy your fish fresh and put it in the freezer immediately after purchase. In this case I could imagine it to last two months. Actually, I like to have surimi sticks in the freezer (as a snack) and they probably last that long until they are all gone.

Now, in your first post you sounded like three days AFTER BUYING the fish you were pondering if you should put it in the freezer or not. Well, in this case I would say, if it was in the refrigerator all that time, smell it. If it still smells good (fishy - that stinks but doesn't smell decomposed) prepare the fish and eat it. If it wasn't even in the refrigerator, use it to poison a barking dog that is giving you so much trouble (just kidding!). [em1]

So if I buy fish fresh and put it in the freezer immediately after purchase, I can freeze until two months?? [em24] I think the fish must wrapping well and labelling with the date of freezing in order to good condition for two months.

Yes, it has to be wrapped tightly, and labelling is of course a very good idea! [em19]
