Goose and duck feather imports
Post 1 of 7

Hello!

Are there any limitations or extra regulations on the import of feather products from China and other Far-East countries to Europe? I am thinking primarily on H5N1 concerns.

Advise if you know something! Thanks,

Gabor

Nobody?

Is everybody occupied with the differences between CIF and FOB, and who pays sample prices?

Hi Gabor,

Never try to import goose to EU from China,I think it is almost impossible because of the H5N1.

Regarding to feather,I heard suppliers should present a specific certificate which could prove their feather have been processed and there is no H5N1 or something else in it.

Regarding sample,I think you need to pay nothing because feather is no gold,it is very cheap...I do not think you need to pay that charge.Besides that,I think factory may ask you to pay for the sample shipping charge. My suggestion for you is do not compromise and show your sincerity to do business with them, then they will take the charge of shipping.

If you want to know more about trade with Chinese and avoid risks, you can contact me.

Hello!

Thanks for the info on the suppliers' certificates on H5N1, that is what I wanted to know.

Concerning the samples, from other forums it seems the most important issue for others... I just wanted to provoke a bit with this question:)

Anyway, thanks and have a good time.

Not at all, seems I forget to answer the your question of the differences between FOB and CIF.Let me tell you now.

FOB and CIF are all price terms in international trade.

FOB is short for Free on board, which means suppliers only ship your order to China custom, then you need to pay the charge of shipping from China to your country, you can find shipping agent by yourself or ask the supplier to find one for you,but the charge is on you.

CIF is short for Cost,Insurance and Freight.Which means the price supplier have quoted to you have included order cost, insurance cost and freight cost.Under this price term,Suppliers will find shipping agent and delivery your order from China to your custom.

Not my world Gabor, but I would suggest that the feathers would have to have a "certificate" similar to those required in the US for any type of feather whether it is in a quilt etc loose bulk or something like pea feathers.

I can't swear to this but I have a feeling the main method was irradiation that is used, but that was for individual feathers (ie expensive/ small amounts).... This is one of those weird (but interesting) Q's I expect from you Gab!....lol

oh and btw. you mean there IS a difference between CIF and FOB?.... [em3]

Heh heh... there was quite a reaction time...

I checked it here and indeed you need a veterinary certificate, but producers are familiar with this and mine was even able to give a Hungarian certificate for my taker. It was luck.

And yes, there is difference between FOB and CIF. They are written with different letters, for example.
