From a linguistic point of view this is indeed very difficult to explain. Basically God tells us here, "I am God, whatever that implies!" That means, if we try to understand God in His totality, we will fail. It's just not possible for us (his creation) to understand Him (our creator). Therefore he basically recommends us to shrug our shoulders and say (in recognition of our ignorance), "He is He, whatever that means"
Thank you, Sir!
I was just absorbed by this expression the time I read it.
Well, days later, now, I think I may come to understand it a little more.....
He is He, our only omnipotent creator.
When it comes to us, can we say " I am who I am" to express that "I am who I am, you are who you are, everyone is also the only one" ?
Hope I didnot offend Him....
Don't worry, in case your interpretation is wrong (just supposing), he won't be offended because of that. Not even trying to understand (and obey) His will, that would be an offense. Mistakes are always understood and accepted by God.
