Hello, I think  Alibaba is a great site and made a purchase shortly after finding it, but I think I may have been scammed. I was communicating with a company from Indonesia early last week setting up a transaction, the communication went very well. Once I made the purchase, and sent the money, I have not heard back from them. I have e-mailed them about 5-6 times with no response. I'm hoping it is simply taking some time to process the order, but I'm starting to get worried. I checked them out some including their website before ordering and everything looked legitimate. What should I do? I had high hopes for doing much business with suppliers on your site. I would appreciate any information or advice you can give me.

Thank  you,

Ron, if you were hoping to import a brand name item from Indonesia you rightly have a sick feeling.  The fact is that while there are distributors in Indonesa of brand name products there are but a few.  Those few are their to supply the local retailers only.  No real Indonesian distributor of name brand products has any rights of distributorship for items to the U.S. nor would they tell you they did.  In fact most of all the distributors that retailers buy from are in Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, and Thailand.  that however does not mean that you could buy a name brand product from them to re-sell in the United States either.  When you deal with a company or business on Alibaba you should know that this is an advertising platform.  Something else you should read in its entirety is http://www.alibaba.com/trade/servlet/page/help/rules_and_policies/term_of_use

Pay close attention to Article 6 on that page.

If you really want to know if the company you have dealt with is real and registered in Indonesia please provide their name and address in this thread.  I will be able to confirm if they are real or not.  But my feeling is if you were hoping to buy name brands you have most certainly been scammed.  Another read flag is paying by Western Union to an individual instead of sending a T/T payment to a company.

A word of advice before sending any money to anyone around the world make sure you have a great deal of information about that company including and most importantly verifying that they exist on more than the internet.

Best regards,

Ranger

Well, I guess I should have asked questions before making the purchase rather than after. Here is some information from the place I ordered from.

Almasar Store

Jl. Ade Irma Suryana No. 120

Jakarta  Indonesia ID 10562

Phone: +6281381570900

Website:  www.almasarstore.com

E-mail: order@almasarstore.com

Please inform me when you find out if they are a legitimate business or not. I appreciate the advice and input I've recieved from everyone.

Thanks, Ron

At first , I'm sorry to hear  your story, I'm also advice to you give them a call, they seem to be a store on web, maybe they do not have the stock now .

and then  Alibaba is really a big and crediable web site, and many of the business are successe on it .  there are two kinds of supplier of the alibaba, one is the golden supplier , the other is the free member.  Usually , if the supplier want to be  the paid member, they must be checked  for the credit  before they become to the golden supplier, and alibaba will organize many of the international trade training. At least the operation of Alibaba in china is like this , so all the golden suppliers is creditable, except the certain one runing business with the different method .

the other one type is free nember, most of them is registered quickly, and no need for the careful approved,  I do not know whether the supplier you find is the free member.

I think looking supplier on Alibaba, you should not considering only by the price, usually my buyer will give me a call after checking the details of our company, and then if possible they will come to china and visit our plant. after they see our truely plant, they will give orders to me, and wo do running business for long time. so if you want to find the gooden supplier on alibaba, you should do the careful checking.

hope your supplier will come to you soon , lucky to you .

Dear Ron,

Really sorry  for your experience.

I have been tried to find any credit record of the Almarsa Store but nothing was found.

By visiting their website,i feel a little wired that the contact information are quiet simple, only cellphone available.

It seems that we can do nothing but wait.

But i do suggest if you still fail to contact them within this week, pls post this supplier onto the scammer list on Alibaba. So we can stop more people from being cheated .

I wish you didn't lost too much on this transaction. And hope we work together to creat a more transparent and safe platform of Alibaba.

Good Luck!

Ron, you should take a look at this www.alibaba.com/company/100348250.html  notice any similarities?  Notice that the same goomba can't spell the name of the street the same way.  Also this same person used to have what was called the Almasar Toy Store last year on Alibaba.  These scammers change their websites so often you cant keep up with them all.

Hello Ron,

I am from Indonesia, I am trying to respond you,

seem you have been scammed, according to your detail seller whom you deal with,

data :

1. address : no street call jl. ade irma suryana. but ade irma suryani.

2. code post: jakarta indonesia  there is no post code 10562,

3. the website can not be access anymore.

4. their phone can not be  any more it is mobile phone. may be not use anymore

conclusion is you have been scammed.

my advice is

1. buy no thing a branded one from our country.

2. do not make TT to anyone you do not know, make payment only with LC or with paypal business verified, not personal one.

3. and do deal with only trustpass no free member, they have been verified by alibaba

you may contact me later for more detail

kind regards

you must talk to them before ordering, and 2nd mistake which you did was you just belived on website. Their are so many good firms in east of which websites are not working or they have changed their names.

By with just website you cant be sure that they are real company or buying house.

you must open an LC for this, bc it always give you safe end.

Any ways best luck for next time and I hope that you will keep this last main point in your future transaction.
