Is manufacturing cheaper in India or China?????
Post 1 of 22

Hello Everyone,

I am looking for the answer to this question for the last few months.

I want to establish a manufacturing plant in India but not sure whether there would be a threat from low cost chinese imported goods. No doubt you can get stuff cheaper from China but is it bcoz material is cheap or manufacturing cost is less or the chinese trade at a very small profit margin.

I would be very grateful if anyone can answer to this quiery of mine.

Many thanks,

Sandeep

RE: The dishonesty in enquireys...

Unfortunately it is something we have to deal with, not just in China but also us in the West.

I work for a supplier of imported goods from china, and we constantly have to be on the lookout for our English rivals enquiring after our price to try to undercut us.

However, as a hint when trying to find prices, another method may be to contact potential customers, explain your position and ask what their current supply prices are. If you can match it but offer a better service, you will win their business. If you undercut it, you probably won't.

Manufacturing is cheaper in India depends on the products you want to manufacture. If that product is for export & communication with foreign countries is required often then India will be the best option. In India English & other language staff is available in bulk. Similarly if technical products plant is to be erected then technical staff with Computer Software is available as compare to China. Therefore us & other european countries have started BPO & other similar projects in India. Automobile related products, Medicenes plants can be erected in  in India. The political red tape systeme is now very less in India then previous era. China is good for raw material not the finished products.

you can have a manufacturing in india, as for most material are cheaper than China, but in my acknowlege, I have a friend visited india, and found that their handwork speed is really much slow than China, for this, let's say the production cost is similar with china, but you can not catch the production time, this is a big problem for the output quantity.

So, you can manufacturing in india, and also import from China to meet the order quantity. if possible, consider to have in China.

Yes Sandeep, Threat in your mind is absolutely right. You know that in china cost of plant, energy cost, labor cost and raw material cost all are too much lesser than India. So make your plan after having all these factors in your mind.

Good Luck
