Adding to Carol's message..... I have read thru all the posts made by everyone. Thank you all for your interest.

Those who used this thread as a selling opportunity have had their posts deleted and will obviously not be eligible to become a Moderator of this forum.

For those who are interested, here is the basic outline of what is needed and what is required of a Moderator.
1> Clean up Trade Leads/ Spam that has been posted by people
2> Help answer questions that are asked by members, or seek help of other Mods if it is a question outside your experience.
3> Help improve/ build the Alibaba forums.

Things you CAN'T do.
1> Don't start posting stuf that is designed to get you business
2> Don't get political/ religious battles going in here
3> Don't get bent out of shape by some of the strange/ non relevant postings that get made. The idea is to help, not persecute.

I do not have enough time to Moderate this forum and build it up along with my other forums and my business. I will help the person chosen get started and then pass off the responsibility for Moderating this forum.

Thanks for the offers all, and Carol will be getting in touch with you soon.
Regards, Foow

I am aretired Airline Captain. I flew Jumbo Jets with passengers to Europe and Middle East. I flew Supersonic aircraft for the USAF. I have traveled to 68 countries. I have been in automobile rallys that have taken me to every continent, the farthest south on the earth as you can drive in South America, and the farthest you can drive north to the Artic Ocean in the middle of winter. I have been to the two highest navigatible lakes in the world through rally, as well as crossing the highest paved pass in the world. I finished second in the pre war class of automobiles that drove in the Around the World in 80 Days Motor Challenge, the only race around the world by automobile in the history of man. I built my own house (725 cubic meters under roof) including the electricity and plumbing. I own and operate my own back ***, fork lift, bull dozer, dump truck and road grader. Currently I sell lumber around the world. When flying as a pilot I worked for the Airline Pilots Association as a member of the Negotiating Committee, serving 3000 pilots. In the USAF I worked mainly in training - as an Instructor Pilot, and as a classroom instructor. I have taught in the Public Schools of New York, Ohio and Kentucky. I can talk at any level, to any group of people, on any subject.

I am very interested in promoting trade from and to the United States. As President of Ellsworth Systems, a company that imports from Gremany, Italy, Japan and China on a regular basis, I see the need for better understanding or the US way of doing business. This is a great market, but quality must be high the first time. It must be understood that sample products will always be requeired that will be fully tested to desrtruction before acceptance. For larger equipment, pilots are always required with the possibility of returning the equipment if it does not work. Finally, realizing the competitive landscape can help make decisions about stocking warehouses in the US.

Best Regards

James Warren

My name is Ron. I'm a 50 year old American living near the vital American city and unofficial business capital of the southern United States, Atlanta Georgia. I have been involved in various aspects of American business ranging from hospitality, to legal, to home decor import. I have a bachelors degree from Florida State University in International Affairs and am a huge advocate of wordwide free trade. I tell people that I am not political but instead practical.

I feel that I can provide fair, metered, logical moderation in an Alibaba forum. I feel that successful moderation must combine an understanding that while some issues and topics and some courses of discussion cause undue friction between members and must be limited, this limitation must be vetted against the desire to allow everyone to express opinions and ideas which may not be popular but are not deliberately. I am a great believer in the rule of law which in this case would be the supremacy of the Forum rules. No poster can be allowed to ignore the forum rules without consequence but each case of apparent violation must be strictly looked at in order to determine;

  • Was the rule apparently violated applicable in this case?
  • Can the poster express his/her opinion without vilating this rule?
  • Was their malice in the violation?

Any suspension, locking of threads or expulsion should be thoroughly explained to the parties involved and a record kept of the reasoning that lead the moderator to make such a decision. These records would become the basis for precedent in future decisions however every decision should carry the right to appeal or further explanation.

Infinite possiblities are part of our society, they exciest because we have not aquired the knowledge to understand the depth of those things. Modern society teaches us to think and addres issues in a certain way.

Accomplishments are made by those who take their knowledge and then question why and apply common sense along with philosophy to ubderstand new means and ways to accomplish goals.

My background has lots of diversity in it.

i started in farming and construction industry to work my way through college, I have studied many different science and methodologies prior to taking the courses in college.

In college I would always be the one that question "why not" I found many avenues that were taught in college that we were told this would not work ar this is not the way to do things, yet in my years of experience sometime you have to step back and look outside what is taught and experiment with what thay say does not work to find new methods and ways to accomplish your goals.

I have been a Florida practicing CPA for more than 27 years.  A lot of that time (9 years) ws spent in Miami where I received a lot of exposure to international clients.  In addition to being a CPA, I also earned a Master of Science Degree majoring in Taxation from Florida International University and have been a national lecturer and facilitator and a local radio talk show host, for a program called Tax Talk!.

The United States tax laws are very easy to run afoul of, as the US is one of the few countries that taxes its citizens, residents and foreign companies judged to be receiving US sourced income on ther world wide assets.

If you are planning on doing business in the US it is imperative that you gain some knowledge of how you will be taxed and how you can minimize or avoid any problems.

Not too long ago I was approached through a relative, by a resident of Egypt who inherited more that 33,000 share (worth about $ 700,000) of General Electric stock from his deceased parent.  When he tried to have the stock certificates reissued in his name, he was told that he could not, until he had filed an estate tax return for his father and settled any taxes owed to the US Government.

Although the man nor his father had ever been to the US, he wound up paying more than $300,000 USD in estate taxes.  YES THAT'S $300,000, almost half of what the stock was valued!  With a little tax planning the entire situation could have been avoided, and he could have paid $0 USD in estate taxes.

Don't fall into  insidious traps that the US Tax Code has laid out for you.  GET HELP BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!  And let me help you.

I realize this is a rather specialized area, but I also have more than 30 years experience either working for companies or advising them.  Many of these entities have been involved in international trade.  In my own practice I am a "business coach" and I also offer financial planning services and asset management services to my clients.

Please consider me as a moderator for your group.

Respectfully yours,

Richard P. Glemann CPA MST RIA
