Mrs Paramjit,
This question is in every body's lips and I read it in almost every forum and it comes out periodically in different ways the question is asked.
It is a million dollar question, and those who have made it will like to keep lip-tight over the matter how they did it. However I can give this to you since you ask in the Business Culture forum, it would be more appropriate to be in Sales and Marketing, which is a very popular site to voice this concern and get the experts to give you the answer.
The above members mentioned that you should set up a website, which is true, but not the only way. There are millions and millions of website out there, and most of them are like the Siberian plains of Russia, where not many people want to go to.
You have to apply the principles of Internet marketing if you are doing online sales only. Do not depend on one single channel, i.e. Alibaba website to advertise your product. Register with E-bay and other B2B and B2C portals as well.
Do more Selling leads in Alibaba Trade Leads, and participate more in the forum (you will be surprised, as the forum pages turn out in the Google Search Engine. That is basically the crux of the matter, to get Search Engine friendly.
Design your website pages to be easily accessed by search engine robots, by studying how the robots work and test them yourself, using different types of search engines such as: Alta Vista, ABOUT, DOGPILE, Excite, Hotbot, Baipu, iWon, Webcrawler, and others. Make your webpage lean and mean and attractive.
Make a directory of all email addresses with names and categlorise them under product or type of industries. Send mass emails periodically to introduce your product/s. Do not overcrowd your emails, make it simple and catchy.
Do other methods to reach the audience as well, by phone calls, by fax or by door to door visits. Make your presentation personal, do not write address as: To the Purchaser, but the name is important, or your mail will be thrown away. Make attractive offer, emphasis on the strengths of the product, either brand, or price or quality.
