My friend told me if i import goods from Beijing Capital of CHina then im really a real donkey. Most likely the price will be very high and they are agents.
If i want to import electronics goods then Shenzhen is the right place.
If I import from Hong Kong, then most likely i got cut throat because the goods are manufactured in Main Land China then deliver to HK for resell in higher price/
If I need ladies handbags I heard Shang Hai is the right place to import.
Can anyone list the areas and their manufacturing categories?

Your friend is correct over 95%. But your question is too huge, while such a list can be published as a book named China Regional Economy Introduction with several hundred pages, see how long is the H. S. code list?

If you need women's handbags, you can Yiwu to purchase imports is the right place, and you can choose FOB port in Ningbo |
Yes it is true that certain areas in China are known for certain production but this is not totally encompassing.
Just because Shangyu city in Zhejiang province is known as the umbrella city and has a lot of umbrella manufacturers does not mean that you can't find a legitimate supplier of umbrellas in Shandong Province. But there can be advantages to buying that product in Shangyu.
I think that this situation is useful for determining where not to try and buy rather than where to try and buy.
You mention electronic goods. I would not try to buy these products in Fujian, Jiangxi, Hebei provinces etc as the infrastructure and sub suppliers for these industries cannot be found there. 95% of such sellers in these areas would be scammers not actual real sellers.

Your friend is right in part. The Pearl River Region is the techbed of China with Shenzhen as the capital. BUT it doesn't mean HK suppliers are always overpriced. A HUGE number of factories in Shenzhen are owned by HK business men and their HK office is usually just the marketing division of the factory. When evaluating factories don't confuse unit price with the total cost of the product, either. Sometimes you pay a little more on the unit cost and save tons of money because of the better service and quality you get.

When you do a search for a product in Alibaba product catalogue, there are so many suppliers or manufactories, just check the area where they are from, the main manufacturing area for this product will have most of the alibaba membership, they are from the same town, then this town would be a centralized manufacturing place.
From personal experience...
Try going to Guangzhou, China. There is a place there where you can persponally buy bags on wholesale. You can see the fabric of the bags to ensure if that is what you want to sell back home.
Note:
1. It was hard to look for this place, my interpreper had a hard time looking for it too. They call it "Bag City", literally buildings just bags as products. Some shopes sell retail, some wholesale, like around minimum 15 to 100 pcs per design and color.
2. Beware of FAKE products. If you have a friend who has a good eye, bring them with you. Though there are great Class A products of Louis Vuitton, Prada and more, if you know the bag, you will see the difference.
3. There are also quality unknown bags in Bag City. I go there last year and just a week ago, I just bought a dozen as gifts for my family and friends.

Your friend is almost right.In China,different area has different advantages.But for Guangdong and Zhejiang,these two provinces are different.These two provinces offeres anything you want,generally speaking,focus on this two provinces will work.
