It is very true why you think a real export company would choose Pay Pal or any other type of payment terms that have high amount of charges and where you send payments direct to ones email account, the T/T payments is most common as you go to your bank and transfer money to their company account, you have proof from your bank and would know when payment has been taken, and the charge in UK is about 15-20 quid.
Much better than the Pay Pal charge that would be 20 times more for a normal order from any one factory, or container load.
The other side is Pay Pal in China is not that big, they use another payment as Alipay, and this is much safer than Pay Pal. and the charges are lower.
Pay Pal payments when they are sent to suppliers in China can take many days to get to their accounts, and most suppliers like to use private accounts.
If you want to make a contract with this supplier?, first find out if they supply these to UK already, so you want to have sole rights in the UK market. You need to have some idea of how many pcs you would buy from this supplier each year. Also need to make sure they dont supply to others in UK or you can not buy from another supplier.
If all this is possible, you are better to go to meet them face to face, at the same time, have some back up suppliers in the same area, so you can make the best of the trip in China, Shenzhen is only a train ride away which is in the China mainland, and there are many electronic factories there too.
Think also about the certification, and have you imported to UK before?, do you pay Vat in the UK, remember that sole contracts for UK can be high in cost, $250k is not so high, so your sales would have to be very good.
In business money can talk, but the road for any good contract can be a long fight and eat up time and money to get it right. ![]()

Hi John,
thanks for ur reply. I do understand that sellers point of view paypal or other service have more charges when compared to bank transfer or T/T etc., but when u think about buyers point of view, atleast some point u will have some protection like if u r not recd goods u can claim but again some other problem, like paypal u can claim only if the products not/partial arrived but not quality of the products. If u receive fake products paypal is not responsible.
like me 50% Alibaba buyers are either sole traders/small entrep/self employed only.Everybody thinks can do small business with the couple of hundreds or couple of thousands pounds/dollars depending on their financial circumstances. So it is not possible for us to go and check suppliers company/products/address in their country.People may not have time to learn extra language like chinesse etc.,So why can't like ALIBABA SITE have ratings to check address/Telephone verification, company verification etc., So that possiblity of reducing scammers in the intial stage.

Hi John
Ratings: why ALIBABA does't have supplier ratings so that anybody can view and see if they have positive/negative feedback/references etc.,
I had asked already RIGHT DEAL LTD for any UK dealers /customer reference. expecting their answers. Even ready to ask Embassy /Bank also about their identity but i am sure it is confidential and they may not have time to answer like me 100 questions.
see, if u want sample/minimum qty from china/HK, sometimes shipping charges are more than the products value. I am not sure why the * shipping charges are very high and that is the reason everybody thinking to buy bulk qty instead of reducing the cost of shipping charges.

Hi
I know what you mean about the rating, i have passed information like this to Alibaba service, the way thought was best is when i see here in China the Bank of china and now the Shanghai airport have customer feedback buttons, so you have poor, average, good, and excellent service buttons,
But for this to work and not to have other supplier pressing these buttons, or scam suppliers, you have to have some type of system to give a good feedback.
So when any suppliers gets 100 clicks from any poor, ave, good feedback would then show up as 1point, this would stop some of the bogus feedbacks, and customers can not leave feedback for the first 30 days, but must be before 90days.
Best if could link to the buyer and supplier contact forum and then only when the supplier returns an mail can you later leave feedback, anyway it is good and bad, but not easy to set up.
John please get in touch with us asap please. Scott at marshgate.
