What is a good method to use when you are new to importing for buying products from overseas for resale.  Is there a way to check out companies and should I contact any governmental office before doing business this way?

Zeras-   1) Create some kind of check list to evaluate a seller according to your criteria, check with Chamber of Commerce or any industry association that the company belongs including government entities. 2) Obtain three references and contact them 3) Hire a Custom House Broker  look at http://www.ncbfaa.org/ and 4) Visit US Customs website at www.cbp.gov and download Importing into The US book (Free)  click the publication section and learn the import process..
