We know the food price in asia increased about 50% in last few months. The fuel price also increased a lot. We, the manufacturer cannot offer cheap price like last year to customers. Some customers want even cheaper than last year.

Few days ago, a member of alibaba wanted ladies bags less than $1. Funny !! I think some ameture businessman also responsible for it who do not know about pricing.
We are an importer but I also understand the situation of my suppliers. The last year alone almost all my suppliers have increased their prices 10% every 3-4 months. On our side, we are also faced with tough competition which put pressure on our pricing and increasing overhead expenses. When I feel that the supplier's quotation is too high, we make it a point to check with other suppliers producing similar goods. Nowadays rarely will you find a specific item being made by just a single company. Comparing prices with other suppliers is a buyer's best way to remain competitive in these trying times.
Nobody ever said that Buyers were realistic all the time! Just tell people who ask for stupid pricing like that that you cannot meet their price, and move on..... The buyer will soon discover that NO-ONE will give them a price like that and they will start being more realistic.

Dear Friend
If the buyer demands unrealinstic price he may be not well informed or he may be just experimenting.
It is always better to quote him your final price firmly.
Also sometimes the buyer also have some tough competition to face and do not want to reduce his margins so he tries to put his burden on the supplier.
Also there are cases where he consider a under quality product with a good quality product as he do not have any knowledge of the product itself.
In such cases you can try to inform the buyer about ground reality if he do not listens then move on.
