Quoting from [KZAR]:

Sir,

I sent material to Australia under terms:Payment 100% in advance by telegraphic transfer. And All telegraphic transfer charges on buyers account.

I received $ 25 short payment. My client says he paid transfer charges to his bank .And the intermediary bank cut $ 25.

So,as per my terms is he not liable to pay the $ 25 deducted by the intermediary bank.

And if not who is liable to pay the amount.

Thanks and Regards

When you send funds to an overseas  bank, you can choose to pay the costs at destaination bank too. Normally, the costs at recipent side should be paid by the recipient, but if you reach an agreement before making payments so the charges at recipient's bank is paid by the remitter, then the recipient will receive full payment without a penny less provided the recipient will ask his/her banket to pay in the same currency that's been remitted.

You might be interested in reading the information in the following link about making payments abroad: http://freespace.virgin.net/bank.help/Explanations/money%20transfers~cross-border.htm

there is a section about T/T which explains that intermediary banks may be used and that they will raise a charge for providing their services.

As other people have suggested.  You should consider biting the bullet on this transaction, particularly if you think you will get repeat business from your customer.  I would suggest that in future you can explain to your buyers about intermediary charges and advise them to enquire about, and include payment for them - otherwise you will find it necessary to supply only goods to the value of the funds you receive.  This would however depend on the value of an individual item in their order being less than, or equal to any additional banking charges raised.

Dear Sir ,

According to your words/  we think it is should pay by your side/// all the USD must tranfered throught interbank if you own currence is not usd. and different bank charge different

the USD 20-40 should be consider it in the cost before you quote. but not asked the customer to provide.if you have done years on export business already.

Best regard

I am very generous when i have to make a wire to someone i make sure to add $50 to the actual amount [em1] it's really sometime very annoying that person is telling me that the funds they received are short by $27 [em9]

I would suggest $25 is not such a big amount to win the heart of a customer !! giving him $25 discount would certainly please him and keep buying from you in future too!!! [em19]

It is upto the supplier to include this banking charge for the tt when asking the client for the payment in the first place so the client know what to expect.
