I fully agree with you on that statement! [em1] On the other hand, both among bricks and blocks from different manufacturers you'll find huge differences in quality. So I don't think that you can make a blanket statement about quality.

brick wall is better in the long run. being a natural substances, "mud" it keeps the room warm in winter and cool in summer, unlike concrete, which does not have this property.

concrete takes many recourses to make while brick is made from natural mud.

The concrete block ( Hollow block) wall is used to replace brick walls where quick and less aesthetic work is needed. I would like to know our members views on this.

There are probably thousands of different qualities (and shapes) of both blocks and bricks, and both are earth materials So, as I said before, you can't make valid blanket statements. You can compare a certain kind of block against a certain kind of brick, but that's all.

Regarding the thermal behavior of bricks and blocks, that depends a lot on shape, size, etc. In a similar fashion, energy input to produce these units depends on the process employed, and there are many. Last of all, as we saw before, even the way these units are used (like blocks that are filled or not) has a huge influence on the outcome.

Therefore I feel like we either define exactly about which blocks and bricks we are talking, or we can't continue this discussion.

In my own experience I can say,   if  you are thinking about  safety and life of the wall, then the brick wall is the better choice  than hollow block wall.     because the hollow block wall is not strong as a brick wall,   from  my experience.

If it is a temporary   or  to save the expenditure,   we can  go with hollow block but still it is not advisable if it is a  permanent wall or  building  because  the hollow block is not so strong as a brick wall..       May be the brick wall costs much high and consumes less time in building,   but one should think of  the safety  and  the life  of the wall or building,  first !!

All that glitters are not  GOLD !!

you are absolutely right /thanks

i thinks no matter which kind of material to  build the wall, we should to see what type of the wall and what is the wall used to. i think that is the most important.

PS:  WE ARE MANUFACTURER FROM CHIAN AND  CAN SUPPLY  BRICK MACKING MACHINE, CONCRETE MIXER, CONCRETE PUMP, AND SOME OTHER CONCRETE MACHINEA AND CONSTRUCK MACHINES OR PROJECT MACHINES.

it is entirely dependant on what the wall is needed for, hollow block should not be used for domestic buildings as there is no seperation from the outer skin that is succeptable from the weather so any dampness will travel through the concrete to the inside of the building, to avoid this a cavity should  be put in place between the two skins but for industrial use there is no better block than hollow as it is cheap and fast to construct with and offers all the load bearing characteristics of brick if not more and can also be used as foundation construction if the void is concrete filled

Dependant on the Local Building bylaws in your Area or Country, it is by far quicker and cheaper to build with an Isometric interlocking concrete building block, because you can dry-stack the blocks to roof height for single story buildings, pouring a concrete slurry down inter locked corners and adjoining walls. It is recomended that steel re-inforcing rods are employed in all slurry poured sections to further strengthen the bond so created. A special U-shaped ring beam concrete block is used to anchor the roof rafters by pouring a concrete slurry in the so formed furrow. The hollow centres of the blocks are 100 mm square , which suffice for electric conduit piping and water piping from roof to preferred placing in the wall. The walls are finished by either plastering / painting or cement-wash.These Interlocking Concrete Building Blocks are used extensively in underground mines and some Municipalities in South Africa.

The blocks are made in a 400 mm X 200 mm X 200 mm configuration, which makes it easy to fit windows and doors.Enquiries regarding the blocks and the moulding machinery will be attended to upon application.
