Hello,

I am trying to start a new clothing line and I would like to know how to go about purchasing bulk material to get things started and should I just go about getting a local person to begin making the clothes and them move on to a larger scale once I can establish a demand for the product?

Award 10 MVPs ( What's this? )for the best answer.

Replying to [cyhall]:I guess you are right.Look for a local manufacturer..to start with...get your designs and styles developed..forecast estimated volumes that maybe required for the large scale production.Once these few steps are under taken to satisfaction..Look / Search for a large scale manufacturer.

Replying to [cyhall]:If you are looking to start up with just a few samples, you deffintely will want to look locally for that. It's that that difficult to start a small clothing line on a budget from buying from overseas factories. I help a lot of small clothing lines here in the U.S. with all types of budgets. You may want to look into having your completed apparel produced overseas instead of just the fabric. It may cost you more to import the fabric into the U.S. and then pay a U.S. company to produce.
