I think most people feel little tired after any business travel, more so when the time difference.

Its always best to make a travel plan before you leave, if you want to visit factories in China you need to arrange dates, and travel for each day, maybe best to find a good agent in China to help you, this will save time and money.

As most information is on the computer, taking you lap top is a great idea, and not forgeting your digital camera.

Good idea to learn some basic words too, this can help, make sure your mobile can work while away, or arrange new sim card when you get there.

Make sure you take cash to China, RMB, not many places will use credit cards, hotels can be booked online, but in truth finding a good hotel in China should not be a problem without pre-booking.

Make sure you have some mobile numbers of people who can help you while in China.

Last point, make sure you have a visa [em19]

If you are going to a country where you unable to speak the language then make sure for the translator.

Make sure your hotle booking before reaching to your destination.

If possible, keep the map of the places while traveling from one place to other place.

Yes, ofcourse it is there, that if the business trip is long, then you will feel tired after coming back.

If you need to discuss with yout buyer/supplier about your product, don't forget to take all the details and if possible samples.

The business trip can be easy or hard, and will need forward planning, but is also nice to have a backup plan, as things can go wrong, so maybe you can contact other factories and they would meet you without any appointment.

If you get their address and names in Chinese then you can visit them by taxi, hand the note to the driver, remember to get a business card from the hotel so you can give to the taxi driver, if any problems call the factory and let the driver speak to the factory. [em19]

First of all, ask yourself this question: Is it necessary to make a business trip? If the matter cannot be solved by phone calls, fax or emails, and it is necessary for handshake and face to face meeting, then ask another question: what is the objective to make the trip.

What will be the cost, budget and returns if any from the trip. There is always a matter of killing more than one bird with one stone. Besides meeting the primary objective, do you have secondary agendas?

Pre-trip Preparations
Someone mentioned finding out the location of the venue, booking hotels and write an itinerary. Have backup plans and ask "what if" questions. Communicate with your appointment people and state your objective of the trip.

Currency in cash - change money before departure, this will leave you with less unexpected events, and check if VISA is required. Check the expiratory date of your Passport, it should have at least 6 months before expiration.

Write down the contact person's office and home phone number or Cell phone, in case it is public holiday. Check for public holidays and off days of the country and the company you are visiting.

If there is language difficulty, get a translator, and a notebook. If you have a local agent, it would be best to get their assistance.
