Im to online sellling. I been selling a few things ....But I was thinking about starting a company .How would someone go about becoming a retailer? How do i go about getting ?Resale certificate or license number ?

You have to get a resellers license from the city Hall or county tax office in which the bussiness is operated in i.e (your companies  home office). Some places state it as an occupation's license. Really it is not to costly to get one.

It depends on how you are going to sell your goods, online or in a solid store.

You need to do a lot of work, first look around this forum, there are lot of useful information here.

You will be facing great risk if you want to sell something on the internet, do full due diligence before you start, it will save you a great deal of loss.

Sorry can not help with set up details but it must be available on your local government web site. In terms of selling your products in the USA a good idea is to get onto the Federal Government supplier list. Especially if you are a from a minority group, black, indian, hispanic, Peurto rican, disabled, gay etc. The federal govt has to give a certain percentage of contracts to these groups. Which is great if you or your spouse are a member of one of these minority groups. As in all business this can take a while but once you get an order you know you will get paid.

Also do not rely on the web site alone to sell the products in the early stages get some local trade by using organisations such as Business Network International, Business Referral Exchange , Rotary, your local Chamber of Commerce and any local business people you can find who can help you out with early orders. This should help fund your web site through the difficult first two years.

This is for the USA. 1st; contact the state department of licenceing for your state and apply for a  resale number. 2nd; Apply for a limited libality company

(LLC) Several law firms arround the states can help, look it up on the internet and 3rd; you must have a certian amount of recipts before you can apply for A D&B number. Hope this helps!

I think you should have a idea of Wal-Mart how to get started in retail, they are the No. 1 retailer. Better you check with your local retailer, how they start?
