All is possible and think about so many foreign-invested companies in China with bosses as foreigners. For a start, you had better consult a local lawyer about allthe details. As a lawyer in Shenzhen, I have been helping clients with such work all the time.
Since 2004, the regulations relating to trading/import and export companies have been relaxed. Previous to this time, generally the requirement for joint ventures and very high registered capital made establishment of such companies very difficult. However, as a general comment, it is now possible to establish a wholly foreign owned import and export company.
The company will take anywhere from 2 to 4 months. It is possible to use a corporate agent or lawyer to establish the company.
