DONT USE TT ( FOR YOUR FIRST BUSINESS )
PLEASE READ THIS>>>>>>>

it is really sad to read everyday new Scam on Alibaba.com

Scammers will never accept Letter of Credit (LC) payments. The fraudsters only accept Western Union, TT as these cannot be traced. Buyers making a large purchase should ONLY USE LC. For sample orders and smaller shipments, consider using an escrow service .

Re: DONT USE TT ( FOR YOUR FIRST BUSINESS )
That's a good one mate. Do you require this info at the beginning of negotiations?

What do you think of insisting on their corporate bank account for any payment? I find it very useful to filter out serious from scammer emails. I have it as a "company policy" that I do not even discus about items, prices or quantity before I get their corporate bank account info. Some send bank info, but the benefitiary is a private individual, so I scratch them immediately. Maybe it would be good if the community at Alibaba somehow comes up with a list of steps we need to go through to make sure (at least 80%) that we eliminate scammers.... any ideas folks?

cheers

Igor

This is in fact good article.  It will be good to start with escrow service or for luxury item such as diamonds, my company usually will personally deliver to the buyer.  Buyer should pay from company bank account to seller bank account.

If you were to deal with a scammer the payment terms he takes will not matter too much if he don't send you the products or sends you damaged or bricks in the container.

Buyers need to check more on the supplier, sure if you send T/T to a personal account you have to think why, but i have done this many times in China, buying samples for this is normal they ask direct to personal account, if your goods are to be shippined through customs you can not do this, must be to the business account direct from the buyer.

Most of the scams we hear about are of the electrical goods like mobile phones and on any of these deals you can spot 10 points telling you DON"T SEND MONEY!!

My way of working is always to deal direct with the factory, and visit them, keep  good communication with them and make more visits when neded, some of our suppliers owe us money as we pay more for the complete orders, but we do not worry as we would get back later on the next order, if we feel this is a problem it's because we have not made our minds clear about the supplier we are in business with.

Facts are that many new buyers cut corners on the business and think they are dealing with their local supplier, the export business needs more work and money!, it's a shame that if buyers would need L/C or payment terms the suppliers can not meet the export business would suffer because of trust,

Choose the right supplier, and the payment terms don't become a problem [em19]

Re: Re: DONT USE TT ( FOR YOUR FIRST BUSINESS )
Because TT is only if you know the person or factory very well, so you must be 100% sure that they will not cheat you!!!!!!
If some one wants to cheat you, They will definitely ask for TT.
So Good Luck!!!!!!!
