100% t/t in advance, forget it. You need to go with an LC on the first transactions. Then once there is atleast some trust you can send on faxed copy of the onboard bill of lading. If your buying FOB, and you should be, then your shipping agent overseas is the one you can trust to tell you the cargo was received.
We find many suppliers are willing to go with t/t agains the

somehow I agree with you.Once the money is gone, it's gone.I do not think the bank will return the money even if you report it as fraudulent practice (or maybe the bank will, provided the has not yet cleared out (taken) the money from his account)

I don't believe the bank will reverse anything unless you are a very large customer. I can't see a bank agreeing to take a few thousand dollar hit due to your stupidity. If the money is still in the other persons account they may be able to work with the receiving bank on freezing the amount if you could PROVE fraud was occurring (not as easy as you may think), but you are dealing with a total crap shoot. I wouldn't do it for all the ipods in china.

Replying to [jenn]:generally speaking ,if you are working with one owning the factories,I am sure it is very safe.
If not ,if you are doing businesses with a foreign trading companies ,you have to first identify its credit situation.Maybe this process is difficult for you considering two different places ,and so far,not convenient for both you to meet together. You can try more emails and more questions knowing about it.Probably you can resort to your friends in that country,or give your ideas in the forum for help.
Only can you find it reliable ,or it is very dangerous and aslo you will be very worried in the whole process.
