Re: how can i know the customer is really want to buy
I think that the biggest mistake many suppliers in China make is thinking that they know the answer this question!

In my opinion you should treat every enquiry as a serious and potential customer. The minute you start questioning in your mind if they are a good or legit customer or not, you risk losing potential customers.

Of course not every person who contacts you is going to lead to an order. Some people are just time wasters but after a short time spent discussing their needs with them this should become apparent. Some customers may give you quick orders. The majority of customers will take time before placing an order as they are being careful. As soon as you start guessing which customers are worthwhile and which ones aren't you will start accidentally scaring away the majority who could be good customers if you give them time.

What do you have to lose by spending time answering some customer questions? Most sales in factories that I know are not so busy that they don't have time to be nice.

Questions from new comers to trading are always welcome - just contact me via the Trade Manager.

Re: how can i know the customer is really want to buy
a. Be good to your customers.

b. give them what they ask for. In my experience, chinese supplier some how cannot do this. I ask for a white shirt, I get black pair of pants. If like that, of course I wont buy from you.

c. Don't give excuses, give answers. if I ask why is my sample not here, you tell me why. Is there a problem in your factory, bad weather stopping air transport? Dont lie, be honest.

d. And be timely. If you say today, it means today, not tomorrow or next week.

The Best Answer
Replying to [loye]:

In business, you have got to have a lot of patience. Keep answering inquiries as completely as you can (vary the reply according to what the buyer requires and don't just have one standard format) and surely one fine day when you least expect it, a buyer will respond. From then on, it's up to you to respond carefully and from your heart. It takes all kinds of buyers, some are just interested in low prices, many I have encountered wants to test the waters first with so many questions, and still others want to build rapport with you so you have to show that you are a responsive supplier, and yes there are the time wasters as well which you get to recognise after a while. So don't lose heart. Keep going!

Replying to [loye]: Put yourself into Customers' shoes, then you will know why it takes long time to find the real customer. the bottom line is creat a WIN-WIN situation , doing business can always show a person's personality, when you do business with your client. its not right if you try to take advantage of them, you have to make both know that base on this business relationship. both of you can make money happily

Re: how can i know the customer is really want to buy
Replying to [loye]:
Hi Loye! There are many reasons that a person decides whether to or not to become customer. Consumer confidence is very important and we live during competitive times. I recommend that you plan for and assume the best for each inquiry. To save time, write a template with answers to your most common inquiries so that it's fast and easy to answer basic questions. I also recommend having someone proof-read your templates for grammatical errors because this is your first impression. In your email, ask the customers questions to give you an idea of their seriousness. Finally, ask the client to respond to your email with additional questions or to let you know if they've decided on another vendor. Keep it up, and you'll get the real customers![em20]
