It just suddenly occurred to me - how does alibaba make money?
This website is very large, and the servers to run it must be a bulking piece of electronic gold! Also, I know that the forums are all self running, with people queuing up to become volunteer administrators etc. But alibaba must have a team for update, site maintenance etc.

The only source of income that I can see is from sign ups to gold membership. This obviously provides a large income stream, but it seems that all in all this must out weigh their outgoing costs or maybe just break even. I personally from what I know- see how alibaba makes profit or even generates enough income to keep afloat.

But obviously they do! I was wondering if anybody could point out how they do it? Such as how much profit they make per annum. Also, is there any more channels of income that I have overlooked?

I think for gold supplier it is Appximate 7500 USD/ Annum and for Trust pass I am not aware.

Now you can calculate.

Including this, you watch the interview of Mr Jack Ma on CNBC, as he mentioned, he have contract with Yahoo and ebay also, and running one more web site taobao.com like ebay.

He is among the 30th richest man in the China and very dedicated to his work..
