What happenned to my MSN ?
Post 1 of 9
Recently I have a message through msn messenger, it was from somebody I knew and had been in my contact list.

The message was in Latin language, and when I replied it replied back in Latin language again, I became suspicious actually as this person was supposed to be a Chinese, how come he talked in Latins, but I really thought at that time, he wanted to joke with me.

Fool me, he sent me a zip file and I accepted it, as I thought it was from this man. The zip file itself couldn't be opened.

So, I forgot about it until the next day, my friend from Korea, asked me whether I sent him a message through msn messenger in Latins and sent him also ZIP files which luckily he declined. He showed me the copy of his conversation with the 'fake' of me. It was in Latins, though it was also different than the one I got.

Soon after that, something happened to my MSN. It kept on trouble, many of my contact lists reported to me that I have bothered them with all Latin messages and sent ZIP files. I don't understand as my MSN itself couldn't be accessed.

Finally, the technician said there's virus attack in my notebook, and I have to reinstall MSN messenger.

The virus is now clean but I had to pay for technician to fix up the problem as I don't really understand about computer.

But still I wonder how can it happen? and what would be the advantage of a person doing something like this?

Also, now I still got messages in Latins, also from the same ID as before, but now I declined all his messages.

The file you were sent did not open but , what it actually did was execute a  line of code called a rootkit.

Replying to [rienimayasari]:[em11]It is the virus that are doing suchthings, not that Man,

You'd better tell him(if he is your friend) to kill the virus.
Or if this man is not your friend, you'd better delete from your contact list

the zip file you have received is a worm that send itself to all you contacts

it is annoying and damages your system ….and keep us technicians in business.

if it infects your mobile phone it will send itself to your contacts via message and you will have to pay the expenses for every message.

You can stop this by asking your computer technician to install an anti-virus Such as kaspersky “ kis” if you don’t want to pay too much your technician Can install esset nod32 or avg.

You have to be aware of  antivirus’s reports read them well befor taking action you may end up Blocking a good file that your system needs or granting access for a virus.

I already have some friends in my contacts that everytime will be online and send me the files by different messege.

1) yesterday I was in very hot and sexy party do you want to see my pic?

2) I want to change my picture in my profile, I wonder that it can close my account. please help me to check.

3) this is the pictures of my company

Regarding to the research that I've done on this file, it's a Trojon.  NOD32, Kaspersky, Bitdefender and zone Alarm can not recognize it, As I opened the trojan and study it, it's some sort of program that search your active antivirus, when the antivirus trying to search it, it start to be disable.  on the line 6 it wrote that send the messege to the online contact and be offline, end...  Also they wrote the different possibality of the messeges. This file when it's zip is harmless, I suggest if some body didn't open it yet, also remove the temp on internet and windows.  it can send all of your personal information such as IP, your saved password to his owner and your computer is ready for future attack.  As Ranger said also it  setup one rootkit on registry so it can watching your behaviour. I suggest use the Doctor Spyware or Spysweeper, they analyze the file regarding to their behaviour not  when they are active.

Nothing wrong with your MSN and no need to reinstall it. you can report the file to NOD32 or kaspersky lab so they correct it in future update.
