Who would you employ as a sales representative, Male or Female, and why?
Post 1 of 16
A lot of times we tend to allow a certain gender like male or female to take over certain professions and jobs without really knowing it, If you are to employ a sales person/rep for your company, will it be a male or a female, and why is your choice what it is? [em3]

Replying to [eloho]:

Hi Eloho, my choice as follows:

Sales representative : I'd prefer male, as it is more flexible for them to do business trips, travel, most men are also able to work longer time than women. This is my personal opinion only.

But, when it comes for me to decide who should be chosen for manager's position. I would certainly say, women are better. Hahaha. Why ? Because I am a woman, off course I will say this.

Please Guys, don't get hurt feeling, okay?

Replying to [eloho]:

It depends on the good or service you want to sell. If it's something where emotions are envolved (and even more, if it's something where normally the wife decides), go for a female rep.

On the other hand, if it's highly technical, go for a man. Just imagine a female truck sales person, and you'll see why. So there is no universal answer.

Replying to [germex]: So we are saying that the product we are marketing will have to be a major determinant of who to employ as a sales rep[em28]

Replying to [eloho]:

Honestly, I do think that the basic way of being of persons plays a major role when it comes to decide the gender for a certain job.

Just for example, when was the last time you saw a female truck driver on a dangerous mountain road... or the first time, if ever?

Of course you are not talking about drivers, but the example shows how the basic distinction between man and woman influence their aptness for a certain job.

Replying to [eloho]:He/she should be smart enough, gender is not the criteria at all for selecting the right candidates, He/she should have ability to convince people. Promising attitude, knowledge about the product will have and added advantage. Degree in marketing will be preferential not necessary.
