Kindly share your experiences.

Most important is to go to the podium or the stage and feel the environment/pressure hours or mins before making the public speech. It will make your body get use to the situation and pressure of public speaking.

Replying to [Rapture]:Dear Rapture,
I tried to learn from books but could not hold my interest in reading them.
I addressed many product launches and advertising campaigns. The best way to learn is to know the subject criticaly so that you can handle querries. It is the fear of rejection or ridicule which makes you nervous.Best way to overcome this fear is critical analysis of information available.

Replying to [Anshu] Thanks for the link, I am not doing presentations currently but Forty five min speech. I have done public speaking many times. Its the fear you come across and standing infront of the crowd of 500 to 1000. Before I step in the stage my heart races and sometimes cotton mouth. This is were i have to improve besides keeping the crowd moving without boring. Not an easy task.

As for the facts Public speaking is the No 1 Fear after death.

During my college life , one of our english teachers once told us you should express your own ideas in the Speaking Speech , only in this way you will never feel nervous , and show yourself!

i'll give u an irrellevant answer, the reslt of which answers the question...

my sister-in-law has been a student for 7 years now, and well, still has some unfinished exams from the 1st year.  she has done speedreading courses, mind mapping courses, learning how to learn courses, and still cant pass an exam...

do u know why?

because she doesn't study.

the same thing comes with public speaking, go out there and get it done.  once uve started it gets easier and easier...

oh, and 1 more thing

Body Language is essential in public speaking, get yourself in a nice relaxed stance, and lean slightly forward.  That is how u talk in public...

when u lean forward, you are "dominating"...  your listeners will lean backwards, "submitting" and receiving...

piece of cake after that
