CBOT soybeans close sharply higher

CHICAGO, Illinois (Agriculture Online)--CBOT May soybean futures closed 23 cents higher at $15.59 per bushel. The July contract set a new all-time high of $15.96 per bushel then backed off.

The CBOT May soy oil futures contract hit limit up 2.00 cents per pound at $70.82. The soy oil traded .18 to .20 higher in synthetic trading in the options pit.

CBOT May corn futures contract settled 10 cents higher at $5.66 1/2 per bushel. The May '09 contract reached a new all-time high of $5.89 per bushel.

The CBOT May wheat futures contract closed 16 1/2 cents higher at $11.02 1/2. The May contract touched the 60 cent limit up at $11.60 and then backed off.

The price of crude oil is more than $100 a barrel.  I think that the rising cost of oil is behind most of the other prices going up.  Cost of production is higher as well as transportation.
