Importing Cars- Expert opinion needed

I am based in the UK and i was interested in finding out weather importing cars would be a profitable business.
I am very aware that VAT and duty will have to be paid, that the car might need slight modification to meet EU standards, and that there is alot of documentation that needs to be completed. And shipping would obviously be quite costly.
If anyone knows about the car market/worldwide car market i would be very interested to know if importing the likes of BMW, mazda, merc from countrys such as Japan/ Singapore to the UK would be profitable or viable. Below are some examples some current UK prices;
