Western Union for Samples
Post 1 of 5
Does most edible oil vendors requirer you to use Western Union to purchase their samples. Even though they claim their samples are free. I am very worried about this I need to purchase several large orders but they insist on the Western Union charge for samples even though I would rather use my FedEx account.
Have anyone experience this before...is this normal?

Replying to [Trev08]:Normally the Seller would ask the Buyer to pay for the courier charges or by the Buyer's courier account number.

For you case, when the Seller stated the samples are FREE, why do they want to pay for it then?

Oil is not expensive, the courier charge is. Careful as I see it as an unusual practise and see no reason for it.

If the Seller insist on Western Union or any other payment for sample, ignore him. Not worth the risk as there are many genuine oil sellers.

Trev08:

I am also trying to find an honest grower/supplier overseas. I am in Southern Califonia and have been trying in vain so far. I have found that most "suppliers" in Nigeria, Cameroon ( in fact SGS wrote me there isn't ANY oil being shipped out of Cameroun and the only oil produced there is Palm oil and it is for internal use only) as well as GHana. I am still hopeful about Ghana, but will have to wait until after 4th of July weekend for further investigation. India etc.

What I have found to work fairly well is to ask for prior sales invoices for reference purposes. If legit they will provide. If they do and the invoice is fake you will be able to tell. Also, the companies that "supposedly ordered"  such oil should be locatable for said reference.

I would be open to a cooperitive effort in this regard. There is plenty of room for an awful lot of us "small guys" to make a living in this wide open field. I have been contacted by three others who are willing to do this. (ADF alternatives)

Oldie:

As an aside from trev08, you would recommend what arrangement for receiving samples? Also, would you please contact me for legitimate suppliers of jatropha oil, etc.?

Thank you, jimadf
