What to do when buyer and manufacturer make a deal behind your back ?
Post 1 of 8
Could you please suggest me what would you do about this:
On the first time you introduced the buyer to manufacturer, they made a visit and check all manufacturer's facilities. Everything worked out usually and there came the time when they said, "Ok, we will contact you again" or something like that

The next day, you found out the buyer and manufacturer were on their independent meeting and left you behind.

Cases like this happened to me all the time, is it something wrong with me? How can I prevent for this kind of thing not to happen again. Actually, in this year I am doing nothing than just serving local clients as I have lost my appetite to find any orders for manufacturers.

I am a kind and warm hearted person, but at the end, I am tired of being a santa for everyone [em8]

Replying to [rienimayasari]: Sorry to hear your story. I suggest you have to sign agreements with both parties to avoid that to happen. First you can get all your manufacturers to sign one with you so you will bring potential buyers to them. Second you sign with your potential buyers before you start the journey with them visiting facilities.

Get your local lawyer to write a general agreement for you in that purpose and in respect to your local laws. Or you may just download some templates from the web. [em18]

Thank you for your reply. In some cases, I did make signed agreement, but at the end turned out for nothing. I don't want to get more trouble just to sue as in here suing means spending more money [em8] haha

Some people who have had experiences similar to yours claim that it does make sense suing customers and providers who skipped you. After all, on one side you may have international customers, but the providers are local or almost local. Soon word will spread and people will know that they have to play an honest game.

Agreements is a good idea, sometimes agreements do not surely means litigations, as it can also be the Strong Power to Deter. If the agreements failed to deter something, I think you need to check whether they are designed to be good enough.
