I am just wondering if there is anything I can do about scam artists on this site? It seems that no matter who I go through they are all theives. I even went though a so called Gold Member. I sent them money for an item, received something totally different from what I ordered that was worth about 1/4 of what I actually ordered and they simply tell me that they sent me what I ordered and there is nothing they can do to fix the problem.

The only thing you can do, is accepting, that you can not buy any kind of Branded items anywhere in the world from, "not official distributors" !

All Brand Manufacturer have their own distribution ways, so anyone who would offer these items can not offer under the distributor prices !

Maybe, that you can get, as sample a Nokia phone in Asia cheaper than in Europe, but then the specifications are not the same and if you count more shipping, duties and taxes you will never have a profit at the end ! Additional you do not have guarantee and after sales services if you buy from other countries without paying huge shipping for repairs and that for both ways !

Replying to [teddyballgame]: Let me know the company names so i can add them to my fraud company list on my site. Also the guy above is right no high profile brands can be purchased from china. As much as how many people trick you into thinking you can, you really cannot. I now deal with official suppliers and distributors, be smart and do the same in high profile brands.

You must be dumb. You must have been dealing with some chinese companies. Never trust a chinese OR korean company, unless you investigate them properly and tie them down properly.

Even top notch korean companies like Daewoo have a tendency to cheat or to cut corners especially when they know that a client is a small fry.

Never trust them even when you have done business with them for years. There is no association that you can contact to get relieve. SO OPERATE STRICTLY UNDER CONDITIONAL LETTERS OF CREDIT AND APPOINT COMPANIES LIKE SGS, COTECNA OR BUREAU VERITAS TO CONFIRM QUALITY AND QUANTITY BEFORE LCs ARE PAID.

Read the problems the chinese toy, food and pharmaceutical manufacturers created for some of the biggest american manufacturers. China with all its surging wealth is a third world countries that has made money selling mostly rubbish

If Alibaba wants to remain a viable portal they must be able do something about these infamous behaviours and take action especially when they accept fraudstars to advertise. It is true that they may not be held responsible but their reputation as a good business portal will diminish with time.

Do you think you are too extreme?
yeah, recently especially American said there were so many problem with "made in china"goods, but acctually it's thoes rantankerous people magnify it.I
yes, there have few peoblem with some of the products, but that's unfair to let all of the people take their eyes on china, think that most of "made in china"goods have problem with security.
But acctually with investigation, things are not so bad as the people thought.Let me show you some data: Until the end of June,2007,the food was rejected by FDA from other countries:India:1763 lots,Mexico:1480 lots,China:1368 lots,Vietnam:533 lots,Japan:508 lots,Italy:482 lots. But during 2006,all these countries export their food to America, the total value except Mexico up to ninety-eight hundred million US dollar, the total value for all of all the other countries is far less than China. India:twelve hundred million US dollar,Vietnam: eleven hundred million US dollar, Japan: five handred million US dollar, Italy:twenty-nine handred million US dollar.
According the the data, the rejected unqualified goods by America only 1%. How could be it so serious as some of the people said?
A FDA senior offercial from America said:individual goods have problem don't mean the country have problem, that's the result by the mass production and globality.
Please note one thing:if you don't know the fact, don't say that anymore. You said all the things chinese sold are rubbish, but why there are still so many people import goods from china? Even the Boeing Airplane Company buy the parts from China.
One thing hereby i am sure: the quality according to the price,if you want to buy high quality goods, like Boeing Airplane Company, you should pay higher price. If you want to buy high quality goods but with low price,it's impossible.

Reply to teddyballgame for the scam on alibaba,it's a pity to hear from you that you have been scammed by some comany, but i want to say,not only you afraid of the scammer,we also afraid of scammers from some other countries,we chinese also met many scammers. One thing be sure, the scammers exist all over the word.We also hate the scammers, how should we do? i think at least one thing we can do,before place the order, learn more about the company and aware of the scammer every minute.

Good answer!  Technico... your language is rude and your attitude towards all chinese companies IS WORST!  I admit I too have alot of concerns when dealing with companies in China, more so compared to if I deal with a company in say, Australia or the US.  Having said that, one CANNOT MAKE A STATEMENT LIKE, "... all Chinese companies are just a third world country selling rubbish!"  I personally have been cheated by someone from New Zealand!  So does that give me the right to say all Kiwis are cheats!

However, I agree Alibaba must be continuously vigilant in coming up with innovative ways to "discourage" scammers from joining this wonderful alibaba site.

The moral of the story is every sincere and honest buyer (or even seller) must be extra careful due to the distance and the consequent "unknown" factors inherent with long distance trade.
