Replying to [fadee]: Dear Fadee. your question is very intresting,
just make a phone call to the buyers, ask his website, his address
and ask him about his target price.
if he wants sample, ask him to pay sample fee and shipping fee, if he is a real buyer he will pay both,
then he is a real buyer,
but if he ask you to pay sample fee , and send sample free of cost, then he is just ........?
always be carefull, about this,
then you should ask him about pay ment terms, take some advance and rest on doucments
or demand an lc ,
you will easly find a real buyers
hope the best

faddee - The reason they are asking too many questions is probably because they want to make sure that you are real seller.  You should also ask them many questions, if they do not answer then they probably are not interested on what you have to offer or possibly that you did not convince them on your product or could be a scammer. Always use proforma invoice when you give quotation to your buyer. Here is a link that could help on how to prepare a proforma invoice.   http://resources.alibaba.com/article/29272/Using_a_pro_forma_invoice_will_help_to_increase_your_profits.htm

Replying to [fadee]:I'm the buyer for a very large listed retailer so I probably see it from the other side than what you do. Firstly, we as buyers need to know that the companies we buy from is authentic sellers and that's why the many questions. Nowadays there are so many suppliers in China with the "Same" item, but sometimes I find that only 1 will have the right capabilities and quality - this makes the sifting process quite tedious. Also, for this simple reason, I always request samples FOC, but granted at that stage I have sent my company profile, website and possibly sent through some good reasons why the company should deal with me. The reason for asking samples FOC is that I receive so many defective samples that it would cost me a fortune trying to sort out quality problems for the inefficient manufacturer. Also remember that the manufacturer's actual cost is much lower than the cost to the buyer and it is therefore easier for him to carry the cost thereof.
If I was a manufacturer I would do the following:
1. Ask for a company profile and website address before sending any information.... After all, it could be your competitors in disguise.
2. Ask for contactable references e.g. other suppliers the buyer buys from or if it's a wholesaler, some of the retailers it distributes through etc.
3. If you are Chinese, it is very difficult for us Englishmen to explain the finer workings of our companies per telephone - please stick to e-mails.
4. Make your product seem exclusive for a selected few even if it is'nt. This way you can keep information with "good reason".
5. You can do credit checks on the company if you have their banking details.

Then just one word of advice; TRUST NO ONE! You will build relationships over years before there could be a certain, never an absolute degree of trust. Everything you do should be to protect your business interests even be it something as small as giving a little information. A little information in the wrong hands can do a lot of harm.
