I think the main reason for this is because ANYONE can make an account.. and as many as they'd like to make too! Alibaba could stop ALOT of the fraud that goes on by...

1. requiring a credit card number to sign up as a SELLER (this can be waived for buyers) and the credit card must be verified.. where they make a small charge and you report to them how much the charge was for

AND/OR

2. requiring a checking account to sign up as a SELLER.. and once again they make a small deposit and you must report back to them how much it was for and then it becomes verified

3. phone number verification.. paypal does this.. you receive an automated phone call and type in a given 4digit code that way they can verify that it is your number

4. address verification.. maybe mail a letter to the address that the SELLER lists.. this letter could contain the 4 digit code that is needed to verify the phone number

5. fax a copy of identification to alibaba

If alibaba required more from sellers this could weed out all the scammers on this site!.. but lets just hope there would still be someone left! lol. And then that way if someone is reported for fraud and their account is deleted they'd need to go through the hassel of getting another credit card, checking account, address, phone number, and i.d. before making a new account. This would make alibaba a lot safer place to trade for serious buyers who are tired of wasting their money or giving out "temporary loans" to sellers who don't have the products and can't deliver!! I don't know about the rest of you but i'd rather hang on to my money then be scammed or let someone borrow it and then pay me back 2 months later without interest!!

Post your comments if you agree!! Hopefully enough people post to this and I can notify alibaba!

The concept is very GOOD. Maybe not exactly as per your comments, but it is a GREAT starting point for alibaba to work on. As a genuine Seller myself, I would certainly agree to go through some kind of authentication process with Alibaba to make this great site SAFER for all concerned, Buyers AND Sellers alike.

IF ANY ALIBABA MODERATORS ARE READING THIS, please take up with management. One of the best threads I have ever read on here.

I agree. Their lack of security measures for Trustpass Members or any Sellers suggests they're not really bothered about keeping their website lawful.
I guess only Alibaba can answer that.

Hi,

I absolutely agree. Being a genuine supplier and or reseller like myself, I need to be absolutely sure that this site has genuine buyers as well. If not it's just like any other forum.

Paying money to become a trustpass member shows that there are some fly by night companies also. I think these kind of B2B sites should look after their members and not set up a portal and let someone else rule the site like scammers

I don't think that Alibaba values it's reputation, after all, it's just concerned with getting money to fund themselves.

I don't ind paying 5-10 bucks and secure myself as a user for a year, without a doubt there will be some scammers around, at least it filters out the free loaders

Alibaba, if you want this to work, I'm giving you 2 months to implement changes, if not I'm setting up a portal and a forum and steal your customers away.

Cheers

Alibaba needs to be held accountable for not taking action against the criminals that use their website. They close their eyes to the fact that their website is used mostly for criminal activity and they do not implement enough security measures to prevent this from happening. Alibaba.com is nothing but a playground for people participating in criminal activity. Alibaba says they are considered only a Business 2 Business website and are not responsible for anything that happens on it. It is absurd that a company who's core business is matching businesses with other businesses is not responsible for anything that takes place on its website. Alibaba.com turns its back on the very people who use its services and deserves to be run into the ground by lawsuits because a case can be proven against Alibaba. They are accountable for the countless numbers of fraud cases taking place everyday on its own platform.

I BELIEVE THAT EVERYONE WHO HAS BEEN A VICTIM OF FRAUDULANT ACTIVITY ON THIS SITE SHOULD BRING A LAWSUIT AGAINST ALIBABA.COM AND WIN. IF EVERYONE DOES THIS, THE NUMBER OF LAWSUITS WOULD BE SO LARGE AND THE DOLLAR AMOUNT SO OVERWHELMING THAT ALIBABA.COM WOULD BE FORCED INTO BANKRUPTCY AND THE COMPANY WOULD BE RUN INTO THE GROUND WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT IT DESERVES.

DONT JUST CRY ABOUT IT......DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!
