Replying to [opalcutter]:Opalcutter,there are many versions of English-which I can contest to.
Although I have,normally,a very strong Cockney accent,I've lived abroad for so long I think it's a standard English voice I speak in.
My brother and sister are bemused when I 'phone them-often asking what I'm on about.
However,whenever I go to the 'States,especially NYC,the natives assume that I'm South African.
Don't understand it myself,although I can't differenciate between Kiwi and Oz,but I can tell between US and Canadian (ask them to say "about").
