A Great Lesson
Post 1 of 13

I read this story and found the truth of life. Wanted to share with all of you.

" One morning I wasted nearly an hour watching a tiny ant carry a huge feather Cross my back terrace. Several times it was confronted by obstacles in its Path and after a momentary pause it would make the necessary detour. At one point the ant had to negotiate a crack in the concrete about 10mm wide. After brief contemplation the ant laid the feather over the crack, Walked across it and picked up the feather on the other side then continued on its way.

I was fascinated by the ingenuity of this ant, one of God's smallest creatures. It served to reinforce the miracle of creation. Here was a minute insect, lacking in size yet equipped with a brain to reason, Explore, discover and overcome. But this ant, like the two-legged co-residents of this planet, also shares human failings. After some time the ant finally reached its destination - a flower bed at the end of the terrace and a small hole that was the entrance to its underground home. And it was here that the ant finally met its match. How could that large feather possibly fit down small hole? Of course it couldn't. So the ant, after all this trouble and exercising great ingenuity, Overcoming problems all along the way just abandoned the feather and went home.

The ant had not thought the problem through before it began its epic journey And in the end the feather was nothing more than a burden. Isn't OUR LIFE like that? We worry about our family; we worry about money or the lack of it, We worry about work, about where we live, about all sorts of things. These are all burdens - the things we pick up along life's path and lug them around the Obstacles and over the crevasses that life will bring, Only to find that at the destination they are useless and we can't take them with US................" .

Replying to [Deepali]: Very true. An ant teaches us "never give up" or "Try, try until you succeed."

But as I feel, the above story is slightly more than that, both materalistic-wise as well as spiritual-wise too. As I see between the lines of this story is:(in short).

Lesson No. 1 - "Try, try but with some inteligence to finally get suceeded."

Lesson No. 2 - "Never waste time and energy in grabbing everything if it is not meant for you, hardly matters even if it appears attractive and valuable." [Excuse me for using the word "You" as it sometimes create confusions. Let me clarify that it is not "You", it is on a general basis].

Lesson No. 3. All those things (attractive ones) in which normally we get seriously involved unneccessarily, at the end of the day, may finally be proved to be a burden on us and nothing else.

Supreme Nature (also known as GOD) has been kind enough to the human kind by enriching him with "intelligence" (or in hindi "Vivek") to enable him to use it in an appropriate manner.[em1]

Replying to [vshanker]:I like the story very much and learn also. This is a very good lesson, that we should not carry the unnecessary burdon, and instead of reaching to end, we should decide it before, because we are the human being and have brain also...[em19]

Replying to [vshanker]: Dear Mr. Shanker, I am going through your postings. It's a very unique story, you are observant. We could get strength from an little ant.

Since I have a cat as my first pet a year ago, I learned many things from our cat, he is cool and calm, he is elegant yet arrogant; he does not make much meow, the few he made are meaningful. He is very gentle and patient. [em3].

Thank you and happy lunar new year.

Replying to [Moolan99]: I thank you for your appreciation. Yes you are right when you say that you have learnt things from your cat. We can keep learning things from each and every thing which is around us in order to improve our way of life.

yes you can go on learning with amazement by observing the animals, specially when they are in their natural habitats. While the human can not differiantiate with a high brain and wisdom, how come the animals can know the poisionus grass and vegetation, and don't eat them. It is amazing and teaching.

Replying to [yarenimex]: I love watch "Animal Planet" when I have time. We were sorry to see animals suffered because of human greed and cruelty. We should let them be. It's mysterious that animals can avoid some dangerous plants. I always curious about our cat's excellent night vision, his crystal clear eyes, such a lovely creature. I just need to refrain from giving him too much treat for he is gaining weight. One pound in cats equal 15 lbs in human.

I have to stop now, because I have too much to say about our cat. I got complaint:" You treat him (Mr. Kitcat) like the king".

Replying to [Moolan99]:

Yes pet are treated in a lovely manner and sometimes cause you to have complaints when you exaggerate your affection. But I think they deserve that much affection when you think the ease and joy they provide.
