Post 1 of 29
Hi ,
Today , India and china are the fastest growing economies of the world and has emerged as the production and outsourcing hub of the world.
India, however, is little lagging behind in economy but due to its English speaking Huge young population and democracy , attracts the whole world and has advantage due to this.
Comments are invited on which country suppliers has the potential to offer best prices vis a vis quality?
And also would like to know
1)what chinese suppliers think of Indian goods and suppliers? do they see them as competitors?
2)What Indian suppliers think of chinese goods and suppliers?do they also see them as competitors?(my answer is ofcourse yes.)
3)What does rest of the world think for both china and indian goods and suppliers? whom would they prefer?

Thanks and Regards

Replying to [Indian shoes]:I think china is better than india now. Our advantages are better infrastructure, better investment environment, better policy etc. As I know, our new generation learn english when they enter school. But I hope we can be partners.[em17]

Replying to [Mike W Liu]: India has the strategic advantage in the long run. China's policy is from the top down in comparison to democratic India's, which is driven from the bottom up. Although China at this stage is much ahead in the race... the foreseen dismantling of the Communist controlled economic policy's like keeping their currency week will eventually see them behind India in the future. This however is still 10-15 years away.

The topics of competition between India and China become very hot in recent year in West media. I noticed that the talks of "India or China "are chaired mostly by the so called fxxxxs economists of xxx Uni of London.or fxxxxs Scholars of xxxx of USA. These smart talk a lot about Big Pictures: from history to cultural value , from democracy to dictatorship… but hardly touched anything in reality. I also noticed that in the bottom level, people are very quiet on these subjects. Because people in the field understand very well there is virtually no comparison between India and China at the moment. India or China both has its strength and weakness. The difference of their industrial structure make them different giants. Very much like in sports: China is good at table tennis, badminton, diving, shooting and weightlifting to name a few whilst India is famous for its cricket. There is no head to head competition between them at all. My view is the Chinese do not feel Indian as a threat. You hardly see any headline news about India in China is a proof.
But the Indian may feel the opposite ( Ram Krishan’s view is ). My view is India will keep its lead in IT outsourcing for a number of years. But China is closing the gap. Whilst in the manufacturing sector, India is still long way off.
Sage – you have not scored a point here; your view is sort of self contradictory. You believed India has the advantage over China because its Democratic system. ( Don’t forget Indian has established democratic system for over 50 years…) Whilst China will be the loser in the race because of you called “ foreseen dismantling Communist controlled economic policy “ in other words, once China ends its communist rule, when China turned itself into a Democracy, China’s economy will slow down and fall behind India.
Are you saying Democracy will help India and harm China ???

Replying to [maxis]: Very good points!
I see both countries are different and difficult to compare.
When both countries are more or less the same, we can compare.
But China and India got so much things that are various. How to compare? We may compare some figures, data and so on, but still too much areas are difficult to meansure them. I can say one can cover the other and not to replace especially in the present economic
development.

HI,
This is not a comparison.
This is just to know the various views of businessmen from India, china (as suppliers) and rest of the world (as buyers), regarding economic and business environment of both the countries.

Thanks and Regards

It's like comparing apples and oranges:

China = currently much stronger manufacturing capabilities.
India = stronger in service sectors (programming/call centers)

I don't really see them as competitors except for the textile industry and maybe some low-tech manufacturing. Currently, I would say China's quality is better though.
